    Great stuff. Crackendale is an absolutely stonking brew, and not quite as dangerously strong as Jaipur.

    I got a mini-keg for chrimbo from the in-laws. It was a task to drink it all myself in a few days. I do like Thornbridge though. I order 12 bottles every now and again for stock as Morrisons and Waitrose only have a few selection each.

    Was in the Netherlands over the weekend and discovered Kasteel Donker, cracking beer... but couldn't have too many at 11%. Missus had the Rouge which I reckon would be delicious at Christmas. Based on the Donker with cherry liquer.

    A few years ago... god knows what we were thinking, we travelled to Ghent for a few days and at lunch time, with empty bellies, we decided to have a large Golden Draak. 10.5%.... so of course we had another. Crazy people! Took a shed load of frites to sort us out... then we went on to discover Tongerlo. First day of a trip in that part of Europe can be messy.

    Was a free bar at wedding I was playing on Sunday. Was driving later (about 2am, so 8 hours away),so had a couple of Jaipur's to loosen up.
    Very nice.

    Gulden Draak is great! Deceptively fresh for such a heavy beer. Strong blondes and Triples can often be like that. Refreshing but it will knock you over if you're not used to it!

    Travel to Belgium most years, so experienced plenty of the beers and the heavy strengths... think that day after an early start on Eurostar and not much breakfast, and then on a hot day... going large x2 wasn't the brightest of ideas! Agree though, really good beer. I reckon tripel karmeliet is probably my favourite triple... have to do lots of research, can't rush these things!

    Which bit of Netherlands are you from Runner?

    I cant see that as being an easy or cheap contract to ease out of, unless the volumes we shift are so insignificant that Colson Moors are glad to be rid. I really hope we try and keep it local while having a few mainstream options. Some promising signs, but difficult to know for sure which way they'll go with club shop and catering. Clearly two areas that we're pretty terrible at and there must be scope to significantly generate more revenue from each.

    In the East very close to the German border. But the Dutch and Belgian beer cultures are pretty much the same (popular styles such as blond, double, triple, bock). Although you get your grey areas where it blends with the German beer culture (with styles such as weizen).

    Lagers (pilseners) are a common style that any country will have plenty.

    It took a while to get used to the many bitters, pale and IPA's you can get here. But I like those as well now. And those styles have found their way into the craft brewing scene across Europe as well now. Especially IPA style beers can be found in other countries as well now.

    I think I may have drifted from your question a bit.
