Seem very confident.. almost cocky Hope wi **** em.. https://yellowsforum.co.uk/threads/4-8-2018-barnsley-fc-v-oufc-match-day-thread.1094/
A decent League 1 team. Will be a really tough test first up. If there is any expectation of a win or belief we’ll walk the league I think tomorrow will be a wake up call. I have faith the players won’t be complacent but given it’s the opening day I can’t say I’m confident of a win! 1-1 and holding on at the end is my best guess.
They’re just like us, hoping for the best, full of optimism for a new campaign. Also preparing for the worst and generally happy with a point. Had a good chat with their lot at Wembley and seemed a great crowd, the polar opposite of Millwall, and I wish them well except against us. For what it’s worth, and having seen us against Hull, I reckon we’ll win but not keep a clean sheet.
I like the Oxford fans. They were a good bunch at Oakwell South for the day and very gracious in defeat (at least the ones I spoke with). When I had a neb on their board before the play off final there was no sour grapes on there and quite a few of them routing for us after positive behaviour between the fans in the JPT. Given our stats for first game of the season I wouldn't blame anyone for thinking they're in with a shout and certainly don't begrudge them a bit of pre season optimism. We are of course unbeaten in competitive matches under Stendel so we're going to smash them 5-0
Loved the day at Wembley with Oxford. Probably one of my all time favourite games. Oxford fans were absolutely top notch, and great atmosphere before, during and after. Only one who was a bit off was Timmy Mallett. was in Club Wembley and was sat in front of me and my brother. Not as funny in real life is all I would say. For pure emotion given the stakes the Millwall game was better, but trying to make sure my wife was alright getting to and from the ground on the tube with Millwall fans wasn’t particularly enjoyable.
Let our players do the talking. Hopefully show their class and Dan's organisational skills! Let's break the opening day duck
I was reading that last night, they were the same before Wembley. Must be down to their 1986 Milk Cup victory...
They are just basing it on our opening day record of 2 wins since 2004.... and the fact that their manager has never lost. I suppose that would bring me optimism... What they don’t know is, Stendel has never lost his first game in English football. youuuu reds!
Doesn't surprise me. Shows like Big Brother and I'm A Celebrity never get well known comedians because they have a funny persona, whilst for most it will be put on for work purposes. Leigh Francis going in the jungle as Keith Lemon would be brilliant, but he just wouldn't be able to keep it up 24/7. That said Chuckle Brothers are rumoured for Celebrity Big Brother later this month.
They sound like any other optimistic set of fans on the first day of the season and fair play to them. I wish them well except against us.
They make me laugh, thinking the atmospheres gunna be enormous with 1300. Don't think they realise Oxford is hardly a game to get the juices flowing for us. Hope we're 3 nil up in 10 minutes, horrible, jumped up bunch them lot. Anyone would think they were a big club.
Spoken to a few of them and they are gutted you think that. What with you being such a stand up fellow and all that. Probably ruined their day.
