Didn’t this happen a few years ago with us? When we found out that the dee dars we’re getting paid more for their home matches than we’d been offered.

I look forward to next season even more now, as even the Wednesday commentators were as delusional as their fans.

Surely such a massive club such as The massive Sheffield Wednesday should have its own sky tv channel.

Don't blame them saying no. Radio Sheffield will have expected them to be happy with any offer, whilst Wednesday quite rightly wouldn't be happy with offering them the same service at a reduced rate.

What service did wednesday provide them?

Every bbc station asked every club to take the same 10% cut. Sheffield wednesday were the only club in the country to refuse

So every other weekend is it just gone to be a couple of hours of dead air or sombre music?

Amazing that the clubs would be paid anything - it's free advertising for them and spikes the interest when clubs are successful (err...…..!)

It will just secure more air time for the blunts. It won't affect the likes of Barnsley.

Not that there was many, but no Chesterfield commentaries will be on either as a result of them dropping out of the football league so 6 has just become 4. In theory, there should be much more air time for those 4 clubs.

What are the plastic massives going to say when they ring up praise or grumble now? There'll be none if this "I haven't been today but I've listened to it on radio" :D

The article says that fans will get commentary via the iFollow service. It’s all a plot to get more people to sign up obviously. What’s poor old John Pearson and the like going to do without the opportunity to share their wisdom with their adoring masses?

All the Barnsley fans that are complaining about our owners at the moment need to be thankful ours are not as stupid as Chansiri. I have a few mates that are Owls fans and the way that club is being run at the moment is shocking. Not just this decision but the membership scheme they run is a scam, ticket and shirt prices being sky high and the fact they may be under embargo but no one knows. This pushes the point of building slowly is better than chucking money about when a new owner comes in.

As a Barnsley fan its hilarious to see and watch the mess unfold from a far though :D

Those years ago when Radio Sheff couldn't do our matches, it was not nice at all.
Am I right in thinking it was when Doyle was in charge?
However, that's all history now, so we can afford a huge, hearty laugh at the expense (literally) of our sad delusional neighbours as they either have to fork out 50 quid for the privilege of Ifollow (from Radio Sheffield commentators no doubt) or listen to Radio Sheff as they do full commentary of Doncaster away at Godknowswhere and occasionally chip in with yet another "and news that Sheffield Wednesday are losing by 4 goals to nil at ….." now back to the Doncaster game..... "Andy....."

They should reduce the wages of the overpaid like Evans, Linacre & Co. as well. Might give them more money to put on entertaining shows.

So what happens in the massives derby? Are they only allowed to commentate when a United player touches the ball. If Wednesday score they aren't allowed to say. Haha.

Joking aside, this shows exactly what the powers that be at SWFC think of their fans. No thought at all for the elderly/housebound followers, or the fact that many of their supporters will have been looking forward to the usual coverage, including post-match interviews and the like.

I've no idea how much they've lost by rejecting the BBC, but I can't imagine they'll make up the loss from extra iFollow subs.
    I predict a u-turn next season.

Football Heaven will have a new slant tonight: "The Wednesday Moaners Hour". That will make a nice change.

    Oh, hang on.......

I found this a bit strange
"The club said that as a result of failing to strike a deal it would extend its online commentary service to include away matches."

Does that mean the fowls iFollow didnt include Away games already - I thought all clubs did that. Or is it just the BBC not having a clue as usual
