first one in 40 odd years and ‘experts’ are predicting they could be a regular occurrence, pretty sure they said the same thing in ‘76 :p

I've never seen as many hoverflies in our garden before. They seem to be spending most of their time drinking the water I put out daily for the birds!:D

Just finishing a week at Primrose Valley, been brilliant. Also, had the coastal breeze to make it bearable. Been a long time since spending so much time outdoors on a British summer holiday. Bit of a thunderstorm at the moment, but heading back for Tarn soon. tan and all.

I'm off to Egypt once my summer schedule is over in early November. Today is about average temperature over there.

I’m loving it. I’ve not got a tan and not planning on it, I’m just loving not being cold!

Ar but forecasting's a bit more advanced these days than licking your finger and sticking it in the air - probably still as accurate though.

I remember that long hot summer of 76 and hoped it would never happen again. History seems to be repeating itself and I've had enough of it now. Proper football starts next week, and it's not a summer sport.

are you loving the amount of farm animals being culled due to this heat wave, the many crops being burnt off, the forest fires its causing, the many OAPs suffering from heat stroke ... yeah its bloody great innit.

Nay! That wasn't called for. Just because someone says they're enjoying the warm weather in summer, they shouldn't be made to feel guilty.

Bad things happen all over the world due to weather conditions regardless of the season. It's tragic to hear some of the stories, especially in Greece, but life goes on for the rest of us.

Resorts won't close or ice cream sellers stop trading to avoid being seen as distasteful.

    Bit harsh that i think.
My parents live in much warmer climes, there is no rain for 6 months of the year but farm animals aren't being culled due to the heat. There have been 'forest' fires (one quite close to their house) but this happens every year. OAP's aren't suffering from heatstroke (many tourists do though mainly due to ignorance).
So the spring and summer has been much warmer there than here and this will continue for a good 3 months. It is normal and people/animals etc cope with it extremely well.
It's really not that bad here.

Top 11 hottest years on record in the UK have come in the last 13 years. Anyone still denying human influenced global warming because they don’t believe ‘experts’ I hope they go to their hairdresser when they’re ill, enough of these so-called ‘experts’ with their science based ideas. Pffffffh!

Jesus I bet you’re fun at parties. You gunna love it in the winter then when crops can’t grow cause of the bad weather, when OAPs are freezing in their homes and cows are getting in bad snowboarding accidents

I can barely remember the summer of 76, but I do remember wading through waist high snowdrifts on the way to school that winter....
