    Yesterday club shop said it’s so bespoke it won’t be in until end of July. We shall see.

    Same reason as when we’ve had black on the shirts (remember the Viv Anderson season shirt that looked as though the black on the sleeve had been stitched on as an afterthought) - the club colours are red and white.

    Happy to accept I’m too much of a traditionalist or too boring.

    The very first Barnsley shirt is still my favourite , it was the early sixties & it was a deep red V neck , no white trim , just pure red , I loved it. Obviously , there was no club shop in those days so no replica shirts as such. The team had that shirt with white numbers on the back , white shorts & plain red socks .If you wanted a shirt the same as your club, then you had to buy one from a sports shop, which my mum did & it was my main xmas present .

    I think the fact that it was my first ever football shirt made it so special & the red was a deep scarlet red & not the traditional lighter red but I liked the shirt you are on about
