Shot all day long for me. He saw nothing was on for a cross so tried his luck. 99 times out of 100 it would have sailed wide but he got it spot on. Keeper had no chance.

    Well done Keiffer Moore!!

Doesn't make any difference at all whether it was a cross or a shot, it went in, it's a goal.

    (Clearly a cross though)

Watched it over again on Football on 5. Looks very much as though he gave the keeper " the eyes"
before he struck the ball. Fortunately for him and us, it went in.
About time we enjoyed a slice of luck.

Never a shot. Mahoney is approaching the box and calling for the ball. Moore looks up not at the goal, but Mahoney. His body shape, clearly different to when shooting, is the biggest giveaway. I know we would all like to think he meant it, but come on.

Only a mentalist can think it’s a shot.

You can even see after the goal Mahoney runs up to Moore, points at him and starts laughing.

    Kieffer. K-I-E-F-F-E-R.

Kieffer Moore. Taken Hourihane's title as the most misspelled Barnsley employee since Peter Ridsdale.

Moore is absolutely dog **** with his feet never been a footballer, he’s a headballer, three shocking misses in a week and the worst cross I’ve seen for years and years but it went in the net.

There manager said it was a deflected cross.
So I am presuming there player told him that .
Very difficult to tell from that angle if it spun off his boot or shin and deviated for certain
Think Moore’s intention was to wrap his foot around it and curl the ball back towards the attacker but the defender came in fast and closed the angle down he was trying to make
So Defo assisted him one way or the other.

I once scored one similar for school team years ago, though probably a little further out

It was definitely a shot, mine was :)

Love the shushing sound when the ball scrapes down the back of the opposition goal.
Doesn't sound as good when it's ours mind.

I thought it was a cross, but I don't care. It was a goal.
Sadly, some fans use it to give Moore stick. It was exactly the same just before Christmas at Fulham. The home side, too, scored a winner in a similar manner & the outcome was for some to criticise Davies, rather than than say it was a fluke. I've not heard anyone criticise the Brentford goalie.:)

I remarked at the time that there were similarities with this goal and Aylott’s effort against Brighton in that League Cup tie from 1981. Trev got one in from a similar distance, or maybe even further out? Both flukes?

Yiadom's comments suggest it was a cross. He mentions a massive slice of luck, and surely Kieffer would have had them all know it was deliberate if it was

No, not both flukes. Moore's was a cross while Aylott's was a shot.

Totally disagree about Aylotts goal he was on the halfway line no one to pass it to as he was the furthest forward , goalie was off his line.
It was definitely without doubt an attempt at goal under no circumstances was that a pass or cross ,

He gets further and further out as the years pass. In another few years he'll have taken the shot from the Ponty End car park.

Brilliant footage, hadn't seen that before. Seems odd to see the Kop full of Barnsley fans. Where did the away supporters go in those days, or was there no segregation then? I first went in 87, and the Kop only ever had away fans on by then.
