In charge for JM, we've lost 1, won 1 and drawn 1. What do we all rackon is a fair assesment of his start? Despite it being against 3 of the worst teams in this division, I have seen enough about us now to think we might stay up. We still have a very real threat of being relegated but Jose has come in and given us a fighting chance and for that you have to give him credit in my opinion.
I'm almost not counting Burton. The setup was wrong from the kick off and I can understand why There ARE positives. One glaring one is we have won a game. The other is we are out of the bottom three.
Seen 2 out of 3, and after that first 45 shambles v Burton, I've seen more directness, organisation and professionalism than I've seen all season. How much of that is due to at last having a striker that doesn't hide behind defenders but wants to get to the ball first I don't know.
Still got an open mind with the bloke, but erring on the positive for now. Anyone being critical of him after being in charge for such a short period of time certainly does not speak for me.
Possibly quite a lot. I'm looking forward to Saturday as now I think we may actually score so may actually win.
It’s been ok no more or less The Burton game was a bit of a disaster poor initial team selection a first half as bad as any I can remember. Second half we had better shape but Burton were happy to sit back. A result that could haunt us at the end of the season. Birmingham we started well and could have been out of sight by half time. 2nd half we sat back further and further and invited pressure on that we struggled to deal with. Hull was a strange game. We shaded tbe first half though Hull finished the stronger. Second half we were pushed further and further back and surrender the initiative a goal was inevitable and we escaped a penalty against Cavare. Our substitutions made things worse not better. At the same time the injury to Jackson may have played a part. So a mixed bag. We have sterner tests to come. The shape of the team is better and suits our players more. I think perhaps Isgrove could fill the Thiam a little better but he was appaling against Burton so Jose is probably less than impressed. Moore struggles for quality and needs to improve his hold up play but is forming a decent partnership with Oli. Central midfield remains the weak link and we really struggle to create often inviting pressure on ourselves. Jose seems a passionate guy who knows what he’s doing and certainly has my full support.
We lost to bottom of the league at home, beat a team that lost 5-0 in their previous match and got pegged back for just a point at a club in turmoil. 4 was bare minimum we needed from those games against other struggling teams. He couldn't have dreamed for an easier run of clubs to start his career against for us. We will find out a lot more about him now with how we get on against better clubs.
Been to all 3 games and have been impressed so far. Burton- started with tactics that were handed over to him and it was a shambles, when he changed to his style we looked as good as I’ve seen in months Brum- tactically got it spot on and we controlled that game with ease, albeit against a bad team Hull- started as we did against Birmingham although against a superior team. Second half was poor and extremely defensive no doubt about it, but I think he was happy with a point and we got it so job done. Will be interesting to see how he sets us up vs Norwich who are a lot better than what he’s faced so far.
As was said elsewhere, it's not surprising that we found it harder in the second halves of the last two games. Teams will change their shape and try harder if losing at home (usually). We have improved our points per game and are creating more chances. Morais can't be expected to perform miracles from day one.
We've got some new found confidence at last under Jose and his tactics, and each game doesn't feel like it will be another negative miserable Heckyesque draw!. Its good to think we can get at the opposition and score goals now, and Im excited at just how well Ollie will keep doing in the remaining games. If only somebody else could step up and score as well, so we're not blatantly relying on just one man.
Jesus, you do realise we were the club in the bottom three don't you? the one that's worse off than the club in turmoil and the one that was below the team that got beat 5-0 the previous week, although their previous weeks result was irrelevant apart from something for you to make them seem even shitter. Lighten up fella.
Difficult to judge after so few games. He's fortunate to have Mcburnie, which Hecky didn't, but then again Hecky already had Moore but used him sparingly. Jose has answered the problem of Gardner and Williams by adding another body to play off them, so thats a plus. All in all I'm looking forward to games more at the moment because we have a real goal threat in mcburnie I think if we had a real quality "been there, seen it, done it" midfielder to play off Gardner and Williams, we would be decent.
I reckon a fair assessment of his start would be no assessment at all. Way too soon to be passing any kind of judgment.
I’ve got no idea on how to rate the job Morais has done so far but I believe that whoever took over should do better points wise as our January recruitment means we’ve got a far better squad for the remainder of the season. Bradshaw been a substitute & Hammill, Hedges & Isgrove not even making the squad tells you how much more depth we have now, there’s never been a lot wrong with the defence it’s been putting the ball in the other net that’s the problem & we’ve addressed that
Too early to judge for me. The Burton game wasn't really JM's accountability for me, first game and all that. Great win at Birmingham, but I honestly believe Hecky would have led us to a win at St Andrews, Birmingham are a poor side in awful form. At Hull I was reasonably impressed first half but pretty surprised at just how poor and defensive we were second half. I think we've taken the bare minimum from three very kind fixtures. The real test will come now, against better teams. I'm seeing both encouraging signs and concerning issues so far. Let's see how it goes.
Too easy to forget Hull City were Premier League last season and reached Semi Final of League Cup beating Man United in home leg of semi final . Still a sprikling of Premier League players in the squad maybe hanging on in last 15 minutes but the defence has done well in the last 2 games.
