any small business owners around? looking at getting a Sum Up card payment machine. 1.69% per transaction with no annual fees, one off payment of £32 for the machine

is this better than I Zettle / Paypal or any others etc??

Been reading quite a lot about the options available for my Hypnotherapy practice. From my research, Sum Up provides you with the lowest fee per transaction, however the options available in terms of the user interface, iZettle is the one I have decided to select. Better UI and some added functions. For the difference of 1.69% to 1.75%, think the overall product is worth the small increase in fee.

I use iZettle. But we also have a monthly term machine for another side of the business.

I don't know of Sum Up, but I suppose it depends on what sort of transactions you intend to have - eg frequency, type of card etc.

I rent a machine from Barclaycard (about £18.00 p/m) but obviously they keep all software updated etc and if the machine goes wrong they have to sort it. I also pay fees of 0.25% plus 1p per transaction for debit cards, and 1% for credit cards.

Some of my transactions can be very large (eg £15,000), so I wouldn't want to be paying 1.69% (£253) on that when I can pay 0.25% (£37).

I'm very happy with izettle. Haven't found a cheaper option when I've looked at changing recently, but it's an industry that's been moving very quickly over the last year or so !

Yes, good point. Guess it all depends on the volume and value of transactions you will be putting through it. Ignoring the initial one off fee for the iZettle or Sum Up, you would be looking at 13 transactions of £100 then it starts to work out better for the deal cambstyke mentioned.

I can’t believe it’s 1.68% on the upper end, the number of shops that charge 50p+ for having the temerity to use card had me thinking it was far higher.
