Even though it's so rare to have a season when we haven't lost to Wednesday. For me, everyone in the starting XI gave their all in the game. We could have been well in front at half time were it not for two splendid saves by the Wednesday goalie from two Bradshaw efforts. Unfortunately, we struggled to create anything worthy of note once the tiring McBurnie & Isgrove had to go off. Mahoney struggled badly when he came on, but I'm not daft enough to write his Barnsley obituary just yet. I disagreed with the referee on both penalty decisions (surprise, surprise), but was unimpressed with him anyway. If we can get McBurnie and Isgrove up to match sharpness, then despite dropping into the bottom three today, we can still survive. I thought all the back four looked solid enough today and that gives us something to build on. Then there's still Knasmullner to offer up an alternative, too. I certainly haven't given up on us staying in the Championship. Finally, what a home debut from McBurnie. The lad may look a scruffy bugger, but he has the lot for a striker.
You can see why Hecky pursued McBurnie for so long. It's a shame we didn't get him in the previous window we might have had at least another 9/10 points.
That's probably correct. However, I'm concentrating on the here and now, along with the coming weeks/months, rather than what might have been, old mate.
Agree with most of that Mr BigLil. And relieved to see you weren't called upon to run naked on to the pitch.
when I saw mcburnie all I could think about was the football match in Kes, he looked like he was playing in borrowed kit ! looks a quality player though
Agree disappointing result but enough there to be optimistic for the remainder of the season. Any potential manager would have been encouraged by that performance.
Totally agree. Very decent team performance right from the first whistle, and to come back so quickly after the pen was very pleasing. Just disappointing that yet again we didn't manage more than a solitary goal, and unless we improve on that were going down. Even Sunderland scored 3 at Bristol today.
Totally agree. He looks like one of the naughty kids off Grange Hill or like he ought to be sat on a wheelie bin smoking a roll up, but, by Christ, the lad can play. Fearless.
