"Barnsley Football Club are thoroughly disappointed to announce that Paul Heckingbottom has joined Leeds United."
It almost reads like a wind up but reading the rest of the article it is obvious they are really pissed off with it.
Surely they could see it coming, we could, if not with Leeds then with someone else. I feel the whole situation over the last 12 months has taken its toll with Hecky, but the club seems to have been taken by surprise. Are the blinkers they wear so big that they really can't see what is happening.
Also wouldn't they have had to give permission for him to talk to Leeds?

Almost like Paul’s shafted us in secret, not that I’d ever insinuate that of course.

I think it's whitey related though I could be wrong. The winnall oneness exactly the same ''' are disappointed' etc.

I'm guessing it's either because whitey is a fan and is involved or the winnall one was written by Watkins and this has simply consciously followed that style

It's only a club statement .. they aren't gonna say" glad he's gone, hope he gets em relegated"

Apparently it met the valuation in his contract. It's weird how in football in general managers are prised away for so little money, yet everyone wants a good manage and will go through several whilst trying to find one.

Lets be real, what happened with the 'new deal' was that we chucked some money at him last week and he agreed to stay till the summer at least. Sounds like he's gone back on something, genuine distaste from club. Not uncommon for new manager contracts to come with more than one string attached, lump sums, pension contributions, mortgage relief.
