I'm in the main a positive kind of lad, I say things as I see them but I always try to think positively about our club, and it is our club. Irrespective of ownership, of who manages, coaches or provides the content for our media. Although I've always been a Heckyite, the writing has been on the wall for months. His interviews have been stale and with a complete lack of the fundamental attitude that we took to our hearts for nearly 12 months. That burning passion has wained considerably in its tone and his communication. Today has been inevitable, but and its a very big but, I don't think it could have come at a better time. The team is a mess, the positivity and the connection to the fanbase has returned to the days before he took over. The crest of the wave which was once a tsunami is a ripple at best. Its easy to point fingers and try to apportion blame. Probably along the way, theres a multitude of people that are but sometimes good things come to an end, which is best for all parties. Do I wish it wasn't Leeds, the club I hate more than any other? Yes of course, without a doubt. But I don't feel angry, I don't feel particularly upset that he's going. There are things I'm angry about, but whats the point in going over it all again, its in the past, now its time for a new hero. In 4 weeks or sooner, Hecky could have and more than likely would have been sacked. He'd have walked away with 200k and a career almost in tatters, this way we get 500k compo, and he gets sacked in 6-12 months with millions in the bank. The team and performances were going downhill fast and I'm not sure Hecky knew how to alter the spiral. The new hero, good luck, you are going to need it, but you are also going to need us behind you like we were for Hecky 18 months ago.
Yes you are probably right in all you say. But,Leeds are a poisoned chalice and they wont stick with and manager who have Heckys record over the last twelve months. Don't know who will replace Hecky or if the 'plan' will still be in place. Good luck to him at Leeds he will need it as we will to stay in the Championship.
I disagree. In the last 2 home games we’ve been much better & he’s got the signings in he wanted. 4 forwards to rotate between & 4 wingers with Isgrove & Hedges back fit & Mahoney joining. For the first time this season we’ve got plenty of attacking options. As well as that some easier fixtures coming up. In the league our wins have come against those in the relegation battle or struggling. I don’t buy this view that some are posting that a sacking was likely. The club clearly believed in him. New contract & they backed him with the signing of players he had a long term interest in rather than solely spreadsheet signings
I agree, but if it was you or I? We'd be off in a shot. I got the impression Hecky was losing his way here, thats not to say I want or wanted him to leave, he'd just been beaten up too much by the goings on. His days were becoming numbered, big club comes calling, a club that won't effect his stock on the markets, in fact will enhance it whatever happens. He's a good guy, I have no ill feeling toward him at all. He's a red and always will be in my eyes and will always be welcome back with an applause from my freezing cold hands on a November evening at Oakwell. He's looking out for himself and his family, as we all would. I've sometimes been loyal to companies for too long, and its to my detriment. As an aside, I've not met Hecky or got any connection to him, I'm not in the know. I did used to play against him for Barnsley boys age groups in Pre Season friendlies but not met him since. Theres no hidden agenda.
As is your right mate. I just have had the feeling for months he's lost his fight. Its an opinion mindst you so not covered in fact. We were atrocious on Saturday in the last 30 minutes, the rest of the game we were the better side. It still doesnt alter the fact we've looked poorly organised and passionless for months.
Do you have a job which could have you sacked in a few months? Do you have a job which, if you are sacked means you might struggle to get you another job for the rest of your life? I think the money in Football is absurd, its obscene btw.
I'm not sure about whether he would have been going to get the sack, but I do think that with the new contract would have come expectation. The rest I do agree with though. I'll be relieved if he goes.
Whats the management merry go round got to do with it? That actually backs up my argument, the managers that get the jobs are the same ones, its a closed club. The others who haven't made a name for themselves have to try and get on that merry go round. Hecky is miles away from that, miles. The Leeds job might get him on that if he does reasonably well.
