It's a good job we are so rich that we can afford to have empty seats this weekend that Wolves would have sold given the chance.
Last time wolves were any good it was carnage. Theyd sold 6500 in stand and had got loads of knock offs as well. There was somewhere between 7 and 9 thousand there based on reports. Pitch invasions.Scrapping on the pitch. Same going back into town under flyover. Wont be much better this weekend.
I remember a game whete I remember a game when Steve Bull scored (as he always did against us) and this unfortunate soul near me in the East Stand decided to celebrate, needless to say it wasn't the smartest decision for his near-term health.
I'm sure we'll miss the £37k (that's if they're all adults which they won't be, less stewarding costs, less policing costs, less catering staff costs) to let 1500 of them sit in the West stand to give their team more vocal support and sandwich the tunnel between their fans. Welcome to your home debut Keiffer, you'll think we're away from home with the crowd but we like to let the big teams lay us on our back and tickle our belly.
Steve Bull, what a great player he was. It's amazing, or a sign that the money hadn't yet properly come into the game, that he stayed at Wolves all his career. The game you mention was possibly a 2-2 draw and I think Bull and Currie scored 2 each. As usual, our fans were giving him the bird, and when the ball came to him in the area in front of the Ponty, there was only going to be one outcome - Bull wheeling away in celebration.
Plus extra advertising revenue and extra food sold and extra drinks sold and extra programmes sold etc. We keep hearing how we won't go crazy and will keep spending within our means, so it would be interesting to know what if anything is being done by the new board of directors to get back to every seat being allowed to be sold.
Extra advertising revenue? the food profit doesn't come to the club, neither do the drinks and l can't see the programme flying off the shelf, away teams get a couple of pages. We would barely make anything once we took off the costs, we'll have improved their support though to spur on their team, even though we need the points more. A couple of thousand is peanuts to this board, wait until the new sponsorships come in during the summer. I think some of our fans need to snap out of the old mentalitiy not the club.
I remember that game. As a surprise for my birthday my son treated me to a ticket. One of his mates came with us. He worked in Leeds and consequently some of his colleagues who were Leeds fans were at the game. Prior to kick off he sent one of them a text along the lines that Barnsley were going to give them a footballing lesson. The text invited a deluge of insults by text in return. I remember one in particular said something like " yeah but don't forget you're playing a team that will be in the Premiership next season ladyboy." Thereafter my sons mate had a great time with gloating texts every time we scored. It was a truly memorable game, because for all my enthusiasm for our Club, prior to that game, I had absolutely no confidence that we could beat them that day so the result was all the more sweeter.
But it is in our interests to sell as many programmes and refreshments as possible so when when next contract comes around we can say since the last one more has been sold therefore we can change more.
odd ones, like the Man City game in the 90s. I remember all the games Wednesday have won, Sunderland, Blades etc
Not even worth it, glad the clubs/Police have already made their decision with this. Long may it continue, 5k tops away fans.
Can’t see anything but a thrashing on Saturday. No wonder we’re rated as one of the best away days in the league!
Thought the catering was run internally now so we did keep the money? There can’t be much profit on an instant tea or coffee at £3 a time anyway....!!
