Regardless whether Heckky stops or goes to Forrest (I hope not) what happens over the next few weeks will define the future of our great club. I am not advocating the owners go crazy but they do need to buy or loan some quality players. I am talking about individuals like Fletcher or other experienced established professionals who can keep us in this division. Relegation will cost us 6 million in TV income. Promotion to the premiership will bring in over 100 million in revenue. In my opiniun good business sense would be to spend 6 million now so to protect our position in the championship. Then take time to build a team capable of a 'promotion push' to the premiership. Regarding wage structures and present player my response would be prove your worth and move up the pay structure. We will have to pay the going wage if we want to attract and keep quality players. Regarding all the doubters in Hecky my stance would be give him the resources and a 2 year contract and the necessary support and see what he can do. The next 3 weeks will speak volumes without a doubt.
Correct! Anyone who believes we'll stop up continuing with our ten-bob and a blacks egg plan like we have been trying to do i believe has been sniffing glue with all the other druggies in the town centre. Get some money spent on decent quality players or we are down!
Agreed, but also well done for not including the phrase 'we need 3 midfielders...' And a special mention, as well, for not using the words 'last January'. We all know what we need, and we all know when the wheels started to come off, but does it have to creep into almost every thread?
I cannot see the benefit in consrantlty looking back on what has gone before as long as we have learnt from it. My initial post is about moving forward nothing else. I wanted to make the point that this window will show what our new owners are all about. I have followed the reds for over 40 years and will do so while ever we have a football club in Barnsley. Now is the time for us all to stand together and give our full support. I am sure the owners fully understand that buying a business is not enough on its own you have to invest. Now is the time for our new owners to show their true metle and invest! Sadley, failure to do so will mean we are supporting league 1 team next season. I am sure none of us, including the owners, want this. .
Apologies if my reply came across as a tad condescending, when really I was making a flippant comment about you speaking actual sense as oppose to the repetitive dross we see over and again. Also agree about looking forward, to the extent that even relegation wouldn't be the end of the world if we could be confident of being strong League 1 candidates next season, then return to the Champ with a strong, established group continuing that momentum... Is it obvious that I'm p1ssed, coz I've just typed some right waffle but am pressing reply anyway...
