According to Yorkshire Post. ....... but I don't think they will - until the faults of the last season have been put right - and they can see results starting to turn around.
If they show some real intent in the transfer market during January, there will be plenty of extra fans turning up. There are plenty who don't show up regularly, simply because what's generally on show, is generally poor to middling. You might not think that as an avid and loyal supporter, but you have to see this through the eyes of Albert Fairweather and Johnny Jumponthebandwagon.
The only thing that will entice fans back through the turnstiles is results and league position. A long way to go yet.
To be fair , considering our home form during 2017 our crowds have stood up well , I think the fact that we have new owners in itself stimulates interest but turning that into attendance levels will depend on the transfer dealings in january & ultimately in results
There’s no chance of increased crowds whilst we are so dire. If we sign a few Championship ready players that might help.
The position we are in now - bottom 6 of Championship - we have been in for the last 13 years - other than being even lower than this as a league 1 club. So the fans have had to endure a lot over that long long period - and many have just drifted away. There has to be a sea change to get those fans back.
An average of one home league win every three months during the course of a whole year isn't going to bring in people just because of new ownership. Our lack of goals won't bring people in or our Lee Johnson size run without a win. If next month we sign more lower league players or kids without experience the fans won't come back for that either because they know how that's worked out so far. All that said I wouldn't mind Ben Woodburn on loan from Liverpool and he's a kid with very little experience. Not helped by being 7th choice behind their Fab 4, Sturridge and Ings.
Can you tell me , apart from the season after we got relegated from the prem , when we averaged much more than we are averaging now , even the season when we went up to the prem our gates were not as high as they are now, so I do not think there are many missing fans at all but I think there is a market out there for attracting new fans & thats what we should be targeting
Only four home league wins in 2017 isn’t going to attract many casual supporters who haven’t already committed with a season ticket or 5 game pass.
Our attendances have held up well despite how diabolical results have been at Oakwell this calendar year. But that won't last if we continue the dire, non-scoring football we've been employing. Investment in the squad is desperately needed in January.
Really took a lot of effort for me to go yesterday. Been full of cold and if I didn't have a season ticket I wouldn't have gone. Wish I hadn't as I feel worse today too. As said only results will make a difference.
No I didn't go - because I knew what was going to happen. Mi lad went - and when I asked how it went - he said - we played well but we just can't score. Now who would have guessed that ???!!! I went around TARN boozers instead.
Sorry you went where? Now what you get up to is your own right of course, there a few like you who can’t be bothered and that’s not right, but please save us the super fan postings every week. It was only last week you wanted to meet the new chairman on behalf of the whole fan base, kind of lacks credibility if you aren’t going to matches.
Arrr but - I had a prior engagement. A mate of mine had to see me about something of importance and urgency - so we met in town to discuss it.
The name Walter Mitty and the derivative word "Mittyesque"[6] have entered the English language, denoting an ineffectual person who spends more time in heroic daydreams than paying attention to the real world, or more seriously, one who intentionally attempts to mislead or convince others that he is something that he is not.
You just said, one post before, that you didn’t go because you “knew what was going to happen” Make your mind up about your day dreams and contradictory self righteous super fan bable. I’m sure Chien Lee was pleased to meet you though.
BTW - never claimed to be 'a super fan'. That accolade goes to those that go to games home and away. I'm just a fan that hopes they do well for the sake of the club and town. In fact I was in two minds whether to go Satdi. Then mate phoned me out of the blue - he's just left his wife and kid. He needed a chat about a few things. That sort of tipped the balance on whether to go to the match or not. But we all knew what we were likely to see. A good team - that hasn't got many striker options - so can't score.
