In the ten years Marcus Evans has owned them their debt has risen by over fifty million pounds..... http://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/ipswich-town-finances-16-17-debt-rises-to-89m-1-5316977 Can't they just go bust. How is he a fit and proper person to own a football club. If he was a foreign owner and debt had gone up so unprofessionally way more would be made of it.
What do you expect? Almost every other club in the top 2 divisions are paying unsustainable wages that they can't afford.
I think you will find there are clubs in the championship with far greater debts than Ipswich - Brightons debt for year was double that and several clubs like Cardiff, Blackburn and Hull were all over £100 million so why pick on Ipswich ?
Because he's lost a business fifty million quid in just a decade. That's a worry for his credentials. The article was about Ipswich. When the other clubs release their latest figure they will get bashed too.
Both figures are staggering in that respect. Ipswich haven't done much more than maintain themselves as a championship club in this time either.
Was looking at an article about spend on wages v income and majority of championship clubs are spending a larger percentage than they have coming in. Can't remember which club, but one was at over 160%, which makes you wonder how when we're all meant to adhere to the FFP rules.
Just plain lunacy. That is why I have never, and never will be critical of the way Mr. Cryne has run this club.
Apparently clubs in our league are allowed to lose £39m over a 3 year period before FFP comes into play. Even then, no specific punishments are proscribed.
Didn't see much of him BC (before Clarkie) as I was an impoverished student in Newcastle but he wasn't a patch on Derek Bell...
Wish we had a Derek Bell on the books now. 20 goals in 46 appearances (says wikipedia). We'd be flying!
I'll never forget the goal he scored at York, it was a very foggy day, it was scored at our end and was just about the only time we saw the ball in the entire second half. We only knew what was going on at the other end from the cries of anguish from the home supporters. We won 1-0.
