Wages, Transfer Fees and running of the club etc And some set aside for the future stability of the club
I reckon this summer cost us in the region of 5-6 million which is a huge outlay for us. Pretty much unprecedented. But bag of *** packet estimations on income is as follows. Stones 7m Mawson 4m (After Brentford Cut) Hourihane and Bree 6m Roberts 3m Winnall 1-2m All the others added up like Kpekwa etc about 500k. I’m all for the plan but there’s a lot of coin somewhere. We needed to up the plan parameters in the summer, and look at players higher up the pyramid, it was an opportunity to build on what we’d acheived. Along with signing Scowen and not selling Roberts.
It’s only self sufficient if we keep selling players. That relies on relative on the field success... Unless spending is such that we can afford it with Championship and L1 income
We're not moving forwards though at the minute are we? The plan is okay as long as good, or players who have the potential to be good are brought in to replace those who are good. We have nobody who we can sell in january who is good either, unlike last year. A more competitive wage structure is surely required, simply a moderate increase. Are we 'poor'? Yes in comparison to some, but we are healthy,
In that case then surely we can only move forward in one transfer window... If we had better plays like you say they would be sold in January then we're in the same position... Let's just all wait and see were we are at the end of the season, not get carried away with the poor run and if we're still in the Championship then it's been a successful season in my opinion
Why is that a success ? We should be building ON what we did last year. We are aiming for 4th bottom and seeing 5th bottom as a great outcome, trouble is with that, if we miss our position by 1, we are relegated. it will not be a success, just a stagnant , wasted year ! In my opinion , that is.
Let's not forget the £6.05m we receive each season and we are in the Championship plus the 45% increase in attendances with more big Cat A followings.
Nice one Terry, this'll get to 6 or 7 pages at least, with at least 2 warnings for libel. *gets comfy
Wait till January comes (again) and decisions are made as to who we can sell. You may think there's no-one worth selling but just you wait. Then we can start bargain-basement searching..... again.
Lindsay might be on the radar of some better off clubs than us - he should make us some kind of profit. Some ambitious L1 club might look at Bradshaw's double figures return and stick in a million pound bid. I would be amazed if nobody left. Barnes and Williams sales are a possibility as well, but of course none of that would benefit us.
The board thinking "The Plan" is a sustainable model is carved out of the same logic as the guy who wins a couple of grand at the roulette table in Vegas and therefore assumes if he goes out the next night and bets the same way he'll win the same money again.
