That’s obviously the way that it should be but unfortunately it isn’t always the case and that goes for people from all walks of life, from the bottom right to the top.

There are more children in poverty than ever before. children In Need is a sticking plaster either way that’s the point. We can fund non essential things but not make sure kids have somewhere to live.

In the context of your original post the two are inseparable

I quoted your point that comments on anti Tory policy weren't sticking to the topic, when in reality it is the topic.

Any self employed person who declares all their income is probably the exception not the rule. They're not called "TAXi" for nothing!!

The whole point is, you should not be able to do so, it is morally wrong, just not legally wrong.
If everyone paid their taxes, the Country would be a far far better place. It is the fault of the Government (including past Labour) that people think it is ok not to pay and leave the pooorest withthe bill! the poor cannot avoid paying their taxes .

At the other end of the scale, a lot of self employed people are due to lose their working tax credit, on migration to Universal Credit, due to various rule changes.

The rules for small business owners are madness. If you can’t show a profit the same or greater than the NMW at the end of year 1 they cut your benefits and mess about with them all the time. Makes it very difficult to get a starter business off the ground for ‘normal’ people.
