Even if Hecky doesn't go to Sunderland we are going to have to live through this every time a job comes up until he actually takes one.
He addressed that earlier - the contract's only worth the severance terms - so basically a realistic notice period on either side is the compo figure. Hence the length of contract is irrelevant. With his current deal he's always here for the next 12 months irrespective.
Its not just the board though is it , its a two week street , it might be that when negotiating his current contract , Hecky wanted a rolling contract , who knows
I agree we should give him a longer term contract and a better salary. The thing is if a big club comes along they'll blow that straight out of the water. Hecky, like anyone in his line of work, is going to be influenced heavily by enough money to make him and his kids secure for life and the opportunity to win things. As things stand we cannot do that. It would be interesting to know if there actually is someone at the club being groomed to be the next manager.
