Not seen it posted. 180 minutes where he wasn't played- 2nd 45 vs Boro, 90 vs Hull, 1st 45 vs Wednesday. 0 Goals. 180 minutes where he was played- 90 vs Millwall, 1st 45 vs Boro, 2nd 45 vs Wednesday. 6 Goals. bloody useless eh??
That obviously depends on what you consider to qualify as having a "role" in a goal. A player can play a significant role without even touching the ball if, for example, he forces an error or makes a run that pulls defenders away, etc.
It's a team game and all 11 have a massive effect on any goal..... Regardless if they assist directly or not!
Those are rather selective stats and a little misleading, seeing as he's played a part in 12 league games and been substituted in 3 of them. Edit: We've scored 4 times after he's been substituted in 6 league and cup games.
Yep. There's no way Barnes would have scored that goal on Satdi if Potts hadn't been on the pitch at the same time.
In the promotion team I'd imagine Isgrove didn't have much direct impact on any of Hammil's goals or assists. The fact that his work rate and drive keep opponents fully engaged on the other flank, however, would suggest that he did have an influence and meant we were keeping the opposition stretched all over the pitch.
Potts is a work in progress. Is he good enough yet? I can’t say I’m convinced. Can he develop into a championship player? He seems to have the attributes so who knows. Compare him to Scowen or Hourihane and it’s clear we have not exactly progressed in this area.
Why is Potts such a big issue? It's simple for me - whenever he is on the pitch he will have my support- I've not seen anything to suggest to me that he is giving anything but 100% for the team. He's not the new Massiah but why the witch hunt from some on here?
Not a fair comparison. With our budget in the championship it's extremely unlikely we'd ever get midfielders at the same level without developing first. Imagine if we'd sign the present Potts in League 1 and developed him for a few years, from what I've seen of him we'd have quite a player on our hands.
Thats not precisely it though, is it? The actual argument I infer from this thread is that he's a key player and is in fact the messiah and so those that doubted his abilities have egg on their face. That is what folks are taking exception to. Personally I think he's somewhere between the 2.
