Welcome friends to the first in what will doubtless be a long series. As you have no doubt seen, our resident expert has decried yesterday's performance as awful and laid the blame for the defeat squarely at the feet of the manager for playing the "44 lose" formation. So let's take a look at the balance of play in the match, illustrated by the chances expressed in terms of expected goals: Firstly, and most obviously, we created 2 goals' worth of chances compared to Hull's one. Secondly, the goal represented approximately 0.7 of Hull's total expected goals. This came from a corner, and therefore cannot be blamed on the formation at all. If we limit our analysis to open play, then Hull's expected goals total was about 0.3, meaning that the formation limited their chances very effectively whilst also creating what would usually be enough chances to win the game. Hence, as with Middlesbrough (see here - http://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/someone-should-explain-this-442-to-me.260233/page-7#post-2028572 ) 442 was actually statistically effective and we simply need a bit better luck and/or finishing. So in summary - 442 is fine, Hecky knows what he is doing, Hemmsy is talking utter ********.
I don't care about that. say what I see and what I saw yet again was utter rubbish. Simply not good enough. I don't think there goalkeeper actual made a good save. Not one that any professional goalkeeper wouldn't expect to save. It's awful. I think it was Kettlewell yesterdays post that I saw and I thought he made good points.
No point, he's always right in his head Once he has a opinion on someone or something he sticks to it.
A fine example of why you'll never ever be a proper fan. That's all you say, all the time. When we do well (and of course I agree that it's not often enough) you still find something to moan about. Support the team and the club, and the best manager you've seen in your lifetime.
Was it Mark Twain who said never get into an argument with a stupid person - they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Im afraid the only statistic that counts is how many tones the ball hits the onion bag Hull did it once barnsley didn't
We're really beginning to embrace the moneyball model arent we. Great post. Love these sort of statistics
You're right. If the current owner or the new owners only look at that I'm afraid Hecky is a dead man walking
It might be the only one that ultimately matters, but others give a good indication of how close we were to getting the goals, or how effective our style of play was compared to others we've adopted this season. A manager would be mad not to pay attention to them.
Question, why are some posters on this site obsessed with this lad Hemsworth. I find his posts entertaining I don't always agree with him though, I've read on some other threads people wanting to ban him because his views are different to there's, it's laughable.
Bet Paul gets up in a morning and jumps for joy that its another way the takeovers not happened. Only thing keeping him at the club. Mr Lee should clear the club out from top to bottom when he hopefully takes over
There is having different views and then there's comments like this. You do yourself absolutely no favours. Yet when people question him or argue against his point they are made out to be bullies. Explain yourself please Phil.
