I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest if we lose tomorrow we may see the first 'hecky out' thread of the new season
Phil. Be a man and start a thread entitled 'Why I don't think Hecky is the man for the job'. In it, state your reasons. You'll get more likes for being honest than you ever will for vile fishing threads like this.
I don't believe he was part of that age group. Think he joined later and coached Mason Holgate a little bit. I might be out here but he coached the u14's at first. Stones was a u16 so would be with Branson and Burton at the time.
You've guessed most of those, as Transfermarkt says '?' for most of this season's signings. Of the two they have given a figure for, Mallan's fee is listed as £207,000 not £250,000. A completely worthless exercise.
People have selective selective memories. Regardless of Johnson leaving his record after losing those 6 games in a row (after Altrincham) and up to him leaving was: P16 W10 D3 L3 Indeed his last 8 games were: P8 W7 D1 Although as we all know that was all down to Hammill, whereas everything after it was Hecky's doing
From an article and interview with Hecky in the Guardian, 13th Feb 2017: ".....Barnsley have a knack of developing and then selling young, talented players – especially defenders. John Stones, Mason Holgate and Bree are products of the Barnsley academy, headed by Mark Burton following Ronnie Branson’s departure last summer. Heckingbottom nurtured Stones through every age group before the England defender joined Everton in 2013."
That selective memory of Johnson's reign bored me to tears and was as bad as I've ever seen us. But aye. He was brilliant wasn't he
That's just lazy journalism. Any link to that article From the bits I remember. Holgate spoke about (when he signed for Everton) him and they came through together.
