The point of a ceo of any businees is that they are an executive who is responsible. For the day to day running of the business
Ok - let's look. French CEO. Stated he had links to football network in France. No French players brought in on trial. And you say that it's only me that thinks it's odd we haven't seen any French or continental players at the club. That's weird. All I can say to that is - well I must be infront of others on here then when it comes to the art of 'thinking'.
The really scary thing is you seem to actually believe the random things you post. Very strange indeed
He's not just here until August, and everything's not just about this close season. I don't think he is on record as saying he would be signing french players this summer.
Every day I think maybe Nudger has peaked....has scaled the north face of Shitmandu and planted his flag firmly at the summit.....but no. Could I please request that he has his own sub-forum, the only place where he can post, but with access for no-one else?? Admin - make this happen, lads.
What's the point of a French footballer then? Isn't there anyone in the 70 million Brits that are capable of playing up front for Barnsley? We are not talking about doing the governor of the bank of England's job here.... The irony is palpable. "Why have a foreign CEO?" Followed by "Why haven't we signed any foreign players?" More faces than a town hall clock. And apparently a bit xenophobic - but only when it comes to executives, not players... Gauthier Ganaye was appointed CEO as he was the outstanding candidate. He has contacts in football - probably both in and out of the uk. As time progresses we may sign players from the continent more frequently. This window it is more likely that the targets were all identified before he'd set foot in tarn, possibly even back in January. So his main job was to acclimatise to his new role and get the deals for the identified targets done. He's done eight so far. I think he's doing ok for someone new to the country, the area and even English football.
This post is hilarious. Personally I'm glad we explored all our options when finding a new CEO and didnt just look at brits. He was the best man for the job, that's why he got the job. No ulterior motives behind it like having access to a different country. Tit.
When our new CEO came in around 6 weeks ago, I recall him saying that the way football Clubs operated in the UK appeared to be similar to how they operated in France. We haven't obviously seen his job description but could imagine that his roles and responsibilities were outlined by the Board and has we have already seen, he acts as the public " face" of PC and other members of the management team, in that he is authorised to speak to the press/media ( as is Hecky on player/performance matters of course). Internally he will be the link between the owner/board and the manager, the coaches, players and employees in that he will be involved in the day to day operation of the business. We don't know for certain, but logically you would think his duties will involve overseeing marketing, business development, finance, players contracts, administrative duties involving the FA/EFL, licences, safety/stewarding, catering etc etc. It's very doubtful if he is any way involved in the scouting or decision making involved in the recruitment process but he will come in at the salary/contract stage and as we have already seen, the official unveiling ceremony. I've been having a look at his former Club RC Lens and what GG may have seen during his time there. They have ten players over the age of 25 and appear to be like us in some ways. They buy in the bargain basement and don't appear to pay much for their players. Biggest signing to date is a 27 year old centre forward Cristian Lopez for who they paid £425k for. They do look as though they may also be a nursery for the bigger French clubs in that they have sold three players to bigger clubs re- 20 year old Gbanis £4.25 million to Maine, Cyprian 21 year old to Nice for £4.25 million and an English lad a 19 year old full back Taylor Moore to Bristol City for £1.5 million. Could the reason that no French players are coming in to our Club on GG's recommendation at the moment be that because the ones he knows about , are not as good as the ones we have or are presently targeting, or they don't fit our age profile.? Another reason might be is he wants to stick to what he does best, happy in the knowledge that if a foreign player does come in and proves to be an absolute flop no blame can be attached to him.? Our catchment area will not be restricted to France I wouldn't have thought. If we can expand our scouting network it's not inconceivable that in future, talented young players from all parts of the World, always providing they fit our wage/age criteria and show a genuine desire to want to play for Barnsley FC could well be brought in.!
Nudger you must be delighted with 4 pages of responses to your original post ( albeit half of them are yours ). Do us all a favour and pack it in. Alternatively take a six month holiday, go to France and do some scouting for the club, i'm sure a man of your talents will be able to unearth a couple of little gems.
It's called 'stimulating the debate' - let's cut out the abuse - but keep things rolling. Dosent matter to me if I get 3 replies or 103 replies. What does matter - is that we get posts like the one from Donny Red that's just above this post. Donny Red makes some good points - I don't agree with some of them - but they are good points.
Closing a thread started with (and continued by him with) dross, by trying to come across as reasonable... Actually no that's perhaps not wholely fair, you do make some fair points nudger, again not all that I'd agree with - but good fair points nonetheless. The trouble is these points are hidden amongst your persistent whining about us not having signed another six or eight players already, and that none of them have been French. If you don't think the club is doing well off the field it's a valid opinion. But you don't need to keep saying it. How many more signings through the door before you change your mind? What does the club need to do to warrant a bit of recognition and praise? In my opinion the mistakes of the last couple of years have been acknowledged and work commenced to rectify. There's been no wholesale mass transfer out this summer, we've sold one player (who would have played) who had a contract. New signings are being given longer contracts. We haven't panicked and bought the wrong forward just for the sake of it. I find most of this positive. If not all.
Problem is - some people only see what they want to see. In summary: 1) Club has done well bringing the players in that they have. 2) We need more than Fletcher or another striker - we need as many through the door as the club can afford to enable Hecky to have options. I would say another 3 strikers and maybe 3 quick wingers. 3) Appointment of new French CEO -surprised we haven't seen any French players brought in at least on trial. That's basically it - I would say all 3 of those comments are reasonable. But some people on here see them as crazy off the wall statements.
You don't make points in such a way though. You dress them up to provoke argument. Point 3 that you've just made is totally different to your opening post, in which you suggest the CEO might be next out of the door, and should leave it to Hecky.
It is of course bluff and double bluff . Since Wots his name became CEO there has been a lot of transfers from the platini league to our leagues . Because clubs think that if bfc are looking there then they had better get in first . Suckers ! Now we can can get the best young players from our leagues for our selves .
1. Patrick cryne controls the budget. 2. The CEO isn't a scout 3. You're the only one who stated he must bring in French players because he's french.
