Not sure how I feel about this one. Probably good business, but I would have thought we could have tied him to a new contract. He doesn't seem to want away. Also liked the fact that we had a local lad at chairman, manager & captain, but probably not important in the grand scheme of things. I love all the new signings, but it does worry that there isn't a solid team foundation that will allow them time to bed in. Right now I'm unsure if they will cope with ease or flounder. Without the championship experience alongside them logic would suggest the latter.
If he signed a new deal and aw it out there would be no value, as the club see it, in him at the end of it.
If I were Robbo, I would wait to see if Burnley, or West Brom come in for him. He is going to get better terms from either of those and will get the immediate chance of Premiership football.
Devastated if it's Birmingham. 13,000 gates in the second city. Time for new heroes. Step forward Liam Lindsay.
Il wait until the figures are released (indeed if they even are) but get ready for a ***** storm if it's A. To Birmingham and B. For only 3.5 million
If it is only £3.5 million, I'm assuming that'll all be upfront. Otherwise it doesn't make very much sense.
3.5m sounds about right to me, if that goes back into the team we should be able to bring in some very good prospects. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Don't confuse professionalism with 'not wanting out'. He was offered a new deal along with the others, Angus and Davies signed, the remainder didn't.
It's better all at once I think. By the time we've received all installments players are valued even higher than now. Inflation
If it's £3.5 then it will cost nearly as much to bring a replacement in and pay them wages over the period that they are here - with no guarantee that they will be anywhere near as good as Roberts. If it's £3.5M then the sooner we get back to Division 1 then the better for all concerned.
We can still spend it, just need to structure our deals to suit. Indeed, if we get relegated under SCMP, instalments are much better over than lump sums
