I agree I'd be happy with one of either patrick or tommy Taylor outide the ponty. Even blackpool have a decent statue of Jimmy arnfield outside their ground don't know how much it costs but definitely should be looked into.
Something like the Dickie Bird one on Church St would be good. Perhaps one of Rimmo would be a good idea
Yes I didnt say rimmo as it was spoke about at the time of his death but his family said it was something he wouldn't have wanted. So the man who saved us from extinction and has given alot to this club and town. Or the late great tommy Taylor.
I'm against the idea of any statue. It creates arguments as we'd not all agree who deserves it the most, it would be a shame for people just as important in our history to miss out who might see it as a snub and if in the future someone does even more for the club do we melt down the original statue because two outside the ground would be silly.
How about a silver or gold plaque on a bench, with their name on it. Thats more low key than a big statue and some statues end up looking poor anyway. Did you see that recent one of Ronaldo!!
That would be good. Rimmo for me is beside Tiverton Preedy, John Dennis and Patrick Cryne on a BFC "Mount Rushmore".
So you have no regard, or respect, for someone who has promoted his home town and the football team all around the world? Ok...
...I was going to suggest commissioning a statue of you, but think I may reconsider now. (this is where I'd put one of them smiley laughy face things, but don't know how to do them)
Really funny. We've just walked past it then saw him getting out of his car. Patrick was behind us on way in as well. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Danny Blanchflower is probably the best player to ever play for Barnsley. Or since we are living in the age of PC, 40s-50s gay footballer Ted Robledo (although football-wise not a patch on his brother).
I know he wouldn't have wanted a statue, but I really think we need to do SOMETHING permanent for Rimmo? Did he have a favorite seat that he used to watch our matches from? If so, maybe we should "retire" it and put a nice classy memorial on? Just a thought...
We had a plaque done for Norman. And a new one for Tommy. They sit side by side on the wall of the Ponty End, with a middle plaque that says 'Remembrance Wall'.
Check the website, mate. We announced yesterday that Norman's two season tickets that he always had were being renewed and given to his family to use for as long as they so wish.
