We definitely finished a season a few years ago as the op Yorkshire team. Think Leeds and one of teh Dee Dars may have been in league 1 at the time which obviously helped.

That's cobblers. Next door neighbour but one was from Middlesbrough and he got really annoyed with people claiming he's not from Yorkshire. Yorkshire CC play home matches in Middlesbrough and unlike Sheffield, the whole of the town was always in one county and not split over two counties. Chris Old is as proud a Yorkshireman as you could ever meet and he played for Yorkshire at a time when you had to be born in the county to play for them.

Among the ones who follow 'The Boro' ( I can assure you) the vast majority cannot stand Yorkshire, and are pretty good at letting others know it. Not that I'm overly fond of them either.
Must be an age thing. Middlesbrough most definitely was in North Yorkshire until the advent of the now defunct Cleveland, which nobody cared for. My mate was quite vociferous in his condemnation of the local government reorganisation and was pleased as punch when it was disbanded and they are now part of North Yorkshire again (Not sure what ceremonial means). However, he's knocking on a bit and his birth certificate says he was born in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire. Maybe those of a certain age born in Cleveland or Teeside don't have the same affinity.
There are 3 counties that make up the Sheffield city region. ( Notwithstanding that the most of Sheffield is in South Yorkshire barring Beighton and Mosborough. Once in Derbyshire) Worksop and Bassetlaw ( Nottinghamshire) are also included in the Sheffield city region. Bassetlaw was included in the region for lockdown levels for South Yorkshire and contributed to us being placed in a higher Tier than necessary at intervals. Confusing or what.
On 12 August 97 we won 1-0 at Crystal Palace (Redfearn cracker) which put us above Leeds and Wednesday for a few days.
