If Barnsley's run is going to come to an end it will be a 'team like Wycombe' that make it so. They played well against Preston, are fighting and if they also get the rub of the green.... It's not at all a nailed on win for BFC.
That was then, this is now. We lost 4-0 to Bournemouth, but look what happened yesterday. I don't doubt it'll be a close game, but we're not the same side that they played last time around.
They did for us back in the Stendel season at their ground, probably our worst display that year, and if anybody knows what a team at the bottom can do it's us after last year. Definitely not taking it for granted.
Wycombe are a very hard working side making the most of limited resources and it will be a very tough match.
But ultimately quite a long way off being good enough to compete at this level. The only way we won't win is if complacency kicks in - not something I'm worried about under Big Val.
Remember that well. A poor display from us. They took the lead, then pulled 10 men back for the rest of the game. They fought hard, and we couldn't find a way through. First goal will be important on Wednesday.
Of course if we do lose at Wycombe it’s not all bad news. Last time we did that we still got promoted. If we have to lose please let it be on Wednesday and not next Saturday
I'm the most eternal pessimist of all time and would have taken two draws before these games so were already in front in my life.
This game is the one I worry about the most. No games are easy at this stage of the season, especially ones against teams that can still a glimmer of hope for survival. Plus they have Michael Bolton as their manager.
