Wonder if we'd be due a cut of any sell on fee Wigan would get?

Around 8 years ago I was working for BT and an American chap joined our team on a similar salary to myself. It was his 4th UK job in as many years. He was very average, but a nice guy. This year, another 5 positions later, he is with a Microsoft partner on a very nice £100k + salary for doing not very much at all. But still a nice guy.
Career wise, he might not have made the same decisions I have. Financially, he has made the best possible decisions for himself and his family.

Big Keef has done the same - financial decisions based on his ability. He is never going to walk into a Man City style £200k a week job, but if he can cut himself a nice bonus every year or so whilst climbing the salary ladder, and increasing his profile on the international stage, good luck to him.

    Cut and paste.

"I just want to thank the fans at <insert club here>, I've had a wonderful <insert number of months here> and <insert manager's name here> has really helped me develop as a player".

To be fair Cardiff to Wolves is a big step up. Not like he's going to the likes of Forest.

He's played for quite a few clubs, true, but you could argue that the move from us to Wigan is the only one that really looks particularly mercenary.

but at the time they were seen as a side pushing to go back to the Prem, spending big etc.

Not as I remember it. Hadn't they just recently come up from League One?

Edit: I'm an idiot! Thought we'd finished just below them the season before, forgot that we'd just come up ourselves. Maybe I missed something big, but they were definitely one of the three teams I thought we could finish above.

You may be right but they were splashing the cash. I don't have a problem with journeymen if they add to the team, and Kieffer seems to have done that at the club's he's been at.

Either way, they were spending Premier League wages.

As far as I'm concerned the more decent strikers we move out of this league, the better chance we've got of doing well. And Wolves is a big step up. Best of luck to him.

All the best of luck to him. He’s consistently proved himself moving up the ladder. Great to see him test himself in the PL. I find the criticism of him weird. There’s never any criticism when players leave smaller Clubs to join us. The criticism only ever seems to start when they leave us for bigger Clubs.

To be fair to the lad he had a one in 2 record in the league last season.
With that sort of form and with Wales too, he deserves a chance at the top table.

Guy wanting to better himself financially in an otherwise short-term vocation. Disgraceful o_O

Good luck to him. Any bitterness towards him is pretty embarrassing

    What a weird thread.

He was in non league football 5 years ago. Ever year he's proven himself worthy of the step he's made:

    - 2017/18 - League One & Champ with us
    - 2018/19 - League One promotion
    - 2019/20 - Championship lower mid table
    - 2020/21 - top end Championship and international
    - 2021/22 - Prem (?)

Imagine these bigger/better clubs wanting him & him saying 'I dunno pal, I have played for a few clubs these last few years. Tell Wolves I'm not arsed because I fancy another year at Cardiff - there's a little boozer on the docks I've had my eye on for a while'.

Great laiker, good luck to him.
