Featuring George Williams and Paul Digby for Cambridge, and also Joe Ironside grandson of Roy 'Tinribs' Ironside

I remember there being a great excitement at Digby as youngster, he showed some real potential. Glad he's having a solid career as a footballer

Has to be said that if Digby wasn’t 27 (and so far too old for the current setup) he’d be exactly the kind of player we’d do well to sign for league one next season. Tall, physical midfielder, defensively responsible and with ability. A player who knows the league.

I mean, it’d never happen. We’ll more likely sign a 19 year old Azerbaijan u21s player or something. But a player in a similar mould who’s had a good couple of seasons at league two and one level has to be achievable?

One very capable midfielder, who is out of contract in the summer and falls into our usual recruitment mould, is Matty Longstaff at Newcastle. He's having a good 2nd half of the season at Mansfield having struggled for game time at Aberdeen. He's played a dozen or so games in the Premier League too.

Does the 'never go back' thing apply to players too, or is it just managers?

Could we compete on wages with even Mansfield? Sure they’ve got some decent finance behind them these days.
