    It's up a street almost opposite the train station. haven't been in ages but always gets good reviews. Sadly not Keralan prices though.

    Get to the Bengal Palace in Wakey. It's Bangladeshi, like most, but decent.

    Did that used to be the Bollywood lounge mate? That was decent, but I think they got closed for employing illegals.

    No, it's just below where the Bollywood lounge was. It used to be the India Palace but changed it's name when one of the kitchen staff was killed there in a fight quite a few years ago. The Raj Poot staff moved there when it closed a couple of years ago.

    As an obvious expert, why don't you educate your fellow Brits on what constitutes authentic Asian cuisine? Then you can have the experience that you crave. I'm pretty sure you can find an Asian community not too far from where you live and you can impress them with your knowledge of their cuisine.

    Not an expert, but I have Asian friends and customers and have eaten in their homes.

    The food is totally different when it's home cooked. Most takeaways and restaurants don't cook the same way, which is the point made by the OP.

    Thought it was common knowledge that quite a few popular dishes were dreamed up in the UK?

    Yes, but you can't blame that on British people. Although the balti originated in Birmingham it was created by a Bangladeshi immigrant. If a Bangladeshi tells you something is authentic Bangladeshi cuisine, you're not going to disagree with him. Especially in the 1970s.

    As long as some of us eat anything they'll serve it up and charge for the pleasure. No pressure to produce anything better, so yeah, they can take some accountability, whether they realise it or not.

    Meanwhile, I'll keep a look out for better places to visit.
