It doesn't have to be like this. There are more than a handful of clubs established at championship level that are no bigger than we are, presently or historically. More ambitious and better run perhaps; maybe more financially precarious. I don't know but in my opinion this is our natural level.
Why not? Do we have to accept that there are forty four clubs that are either better run, wealthier, bigger, better supported, more ambitious or whatever measure we use to define championship standard than we are? As a club I believe we are a championship club. As we are now, the way we are being run then you're probably right.
Lots of teams cheating ffp, the teams with lowest wage bills are being relegated- probably bookies favourites in the bottom three - ever wonder why they have one window paying out and three paying in? It’s the inevitability of it I’m afraid.
I think the championships about as strong as it ever has been in terms of overall quality. The gap to league one is getting bigger & we’re kind of stuck in the middle. For us to compete we have to get things right in the boardroom which we aren’t doing. I’m not saying it’s got great individual sides because it hasn’t, but it has about 16 good ones. There’s nothing in this league for example that comes close to the Chris Hughton Newcastle side or the Wolves side with all the Portuguese a couple of season back.
Been like that since Dennis left. For all the great things Patrick did he made as many mistakes. Maybe lacked ambition too. Far too many players have gone for free or peanuts before these owners arrived. When just paying that extra in wages would have reaped huge transfer fees.
In terms of quality Championship seems pretty poor to me but we are a mid table / play off chasing L1 side so it looks better to us.
