He never learns. Bowls the same tripe game after game. He can't hold a bat either. Towd lad ain't got anything going for him.
Waite's not consistently up to it but I'd say there's some big question marks over Gough and Gibson for not bringing in a quick bowler, eg Ferguson, instead of Shadab.
https://www.espncricinfo.com/player/matthew-waite-765879/matches He's not a young kid either to give time to. 26 so he should know how to bat and bowl now. Seven of his last ten games for Yorkshire have been T20. 51 runs with the bat and only 7 wickets while giving away 217 runs is really really bad.
Agaisnt a Northants side when their form had deserted them. He has been abysmal for most other games and when teams actually compete and put a bit of pressure on then he's found wanting. Not young either, 26 as Dreamy said. He needs binning off, there has to be someone more competent who can step in.
Birmingham will be a decent bet to win the whole thing. Don’t think they’ve had anybody called up that will miss the quarter final, finals day on their home ground and they’ve hit form at the right time. Wonder if Bairstow and Root would be allowed to play in a quarter final if Yorkshire get through? Don’t think either are in the t20 squad which are the games that would clash. Lancs have limped into the quarters after winning only 1 out of 6 games.
Which moron in cricket decided to call them 'Birmingham' ?. They always will be Warwickshire, or does that mean other teams will be calling themselves Leeds and Manchester for example.
I don’t disagree with your criticism but those figures for the Northants game are an excellent contribution for one player. It shows he is capable but not consistent. Yorks. have been forced to field more youngsters than expected because of losing Ballance, Coad, Fisher and Kohler-Cadmore etc. They have therefore tried to keep a blend of maturity and experience and Waites falls in that category but he hasn’t obviously made the grade. I was merely pointing out his performance in the game a few days ago and he couldn’t be dropped after 3-18 and 35 n.o could he ?
I thought a bit more criticism against Willey and Mallan senior players would be right. Willeys nor exactly pulled trees up since returning from IPL other than claiming a nice long contract elsewhere.
Interesting - was just about to set off to Leicester, tickets only a tenner. Will still go but have to keep half an eye on the Notts game.
What did they do? The quarter final will be fascinating with no Allen, Malan, Willey, Rashid, Root, Bairstow, Fisher, Coad, and Balance. Some of the County Championship lot like Harry Duke and George Hill will probably have to play. Steven Patterson may have to play a rare game as well.
Have we not got a foreign player lined up ? A lot of other counties have already announced theirs as soon as they knew they’d qualified
Not heard anything but let's get this legend. https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/...ing-final-season-with-nottinghamshire-1322546 I have nearly finished his book now. It's diary entries from 2021 showing just how much a travelling Cricketer last year spent in bubbles, self isolation etc. He had to buy a home in Sydney without seeing it first.
Two beamers and Aaron lilley giving Neesham verbal abuse in the last game. Will be a similar story across the quarters, with Surrey, Yorks and Lancs missing 5 players each to England. Derbyshire missing their best player as well. Very poor scheduling, essentially bumping the blast down to a secondary comp behind the 100.
Haha Lilleypad naughty boy. Always had a gob on him playing for his local side Delph and Dobcross and more recently Hoylandswaine. Played a few years for Lancashire but couldn't get in the four day squad. That's why our t20 isn't rated so highly comparer to IPL and Big Bash where schedules allow internationals much more time to play.
Not bothered about Notts. But keeping an eye on Derbyshire and Lancashire. To hopefully get a home QF.
