Moan 1 - why, when Rochdale's (quite successful) out tactic was to kick it to their number 9 out on the wing against wee Williams, did we not send a centre back out wide to compete instead? It caused us an immediate problem every time. Moan 2 - why do we place Moore out wide? If Thiam goes off surely we ought to have a proper replacement, rather than sticking Moore out there.
Did you go to Rochdale away this season? Moore was predominantly wide that day with Bradshaw central. 2 of his goals came from the left that night in the 2nd half.
We went 4-3-3 so it was a choice of Moore or Woodrow out wide. And seen as Moore has got a hat trick against this team from out wide I think it was an easy decision to make.
That is true. But one swallow (or two) maketh not a summer. He is not as effective as a wide player. Last week he scored a wonderful header - he can't be as effective a threat if he's not central and waiting for the ball to come in.
We got the result, fair play to Stendel. He isn't daft. I'd rather Moore be our central target man though
Thiam went off. Presumably cos he was injured. I'm not sure why Dougal came on, but it could have well have been because we didn't have a swop for Thiam, rather than a desire to put Moore out wide. Or it could have been because we needed a different shape to improve performance.
Not only width but going back to the OPs first point, Moore wasn’t tracking back much which left Williams on his own against the big number 9 and their winger/full back, so it was nearly always 2v1
