What do we reckon on automatic promotion. Looks like it is now a four team race, Portsmouth, Sunderland, Luton, Barnsley. Barnsley and Luton look the best two teams at present. Luton have the points and do not have to play the others again so advantage them and they still have no permanent manager. Portsmouth, tanking at present. Sunderland getting by but have to win games in hand. Obviously anything can happen but present feelings
According to the sixth poster down only Luton look good..... https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/barnsley.1460759/ They haven't been taking any notice of our unbeaten run at all.
Luton are steamrolling at the minute but surely that can’t continue? I think it will be very close between us, Luton and Sunderland. Hopefully it’ll be us as winners and then Luton second. Sunderland can lose in the playoffs.
The two form sides. 18 unbeaten is decent and they seem to have an excellent squad and get goals from everywhere, except against Barnsley
Luton are scoring the goals . We beat them though so they can't get that superior. Sunderland are struggling for goals so it depends on whether Griggs is the Messiah for them and Portsmouth are struggling now. A good time to be a red, I'd love to be winners but that's down to Luton slipping up.
On paper Luton have a easy run in but games aren't won on paper win our game in hand were only 3 points behind them. I imagine they will be plenty of twists and turns from not and end of the season. I can't believe how many points pompey have dropped at one point some on here were saying they were in catchable.
Luton to win league scoring goals for fun very good at home and have added to their squad in the window + they’ve got the best run in now till end of season. Teams are now playing catch-up with them. Pompey fall short the consensus for a lot of the season is they just do enough but this only carries you so far. Be interesting to see how Boyle & Vaughn do for them up tops. Think they’ll fall away but definite top 6. Sunderland let’s see how will grigg gets on they’re struggling to score more than 1 at the moment but saying that they’ve only lost 2 games all season so are obviously good at the back our game with them at home may define our season and it’s huge 6 pointer. Us will depend on how we do at Sunderland/Pompey/donny fixtures we’ve sold and replaced with inexperience but are on a great run at the moment and are still undefeated at home. Don’t pick up injuries to let players and I think we’ll have enough for 2nd spot. Got one of the best defences in the league and a lot of attacking options going forward something that Sunderland lack. 1. Luton 2. Barnsley 3. Sunderland 4. Pompey 5. Charlton 6. Donny
Sunderland have also got the Checkatrade semi's and three games to catch up on in the league.Portsmouth still have Checkatrade and FA Cup so plenty to keep them occupied, get sending offs, injuries - etc. My maths is rubbish but I reckon with Luton's lead at present and the fact the others have to play each other they are 6 points clear of two teams overtaking them even if they win games in hand. Means bugger all as they may well lose a few
Luton to win the league title IMO with us and Sunderland vying for second. Luton have got points on the board and don't have a bad run in. I just can't see them going on a 3/4 game losing run, Donny at home, Charlton away and possibly Accrington away their 'toughest' remaining games on paper. I've listed below the remaining 5 games for each of the top four teams. Sunderland look to have the toughest run in having to play Donny, Portsmouth and Peterborough. Luton Town: Charlton (A), Accrington Stanley (A), AFC Wimbledon (H), Burton Albion (A) and Oxford United (H). Barnsley FC: Fleetwood Town (H), Shrewsbury Town (H), Plymouth Argyle (A), Blackpool (H) and Bristol Rovers (A). Portsmouth FC: Rochdale (H), Burton Albion (A), Coventry City (H), Sunderland (A) and Accrington Stanley (H). AFC Sunderland: Coventry City (H), Doncaster Rovers (H), Peterborough United (A), Portsmouth (H) and Southens United (A).
Not bothered what they or any other teams up there think about us, if they want to underestimate us then so be it.
People keep saying that but Luton have a good run in, I think they will keep the momentum and go up as champions.
I read all the forums regularly, and out of all our rivals, Sunderland seem most dismissive of our chances. Not all of them, but some reckon we were rubbish at their place, and also that we're on some kind of mini run that we can't maintain. They've won 1 and drawn 3 of their last 4 league games, and only managed a goal a game. 2 shots on target today. Hardly pulling up any trees.
Reckon pompey will fall away and be lucky to get into the play offs, I think we will catch Luton and Sunderland to finish second
Sunderland have struggled to achieve the wins they have got and with them it's more their luck will run out I think rather than them winning while playing poorly. I can't believe how well Luton are playing so good luck to them, Portsmouth are on the slide not improving or consistent like us and Luton. We will finish second comfortably as Charlton and Donny too far behind now aswell
I think Portsmouth will do what Gillingham did a last time we were in the league - look to run away with it, and drop to 7th on the last match of the season. I hope. I also think Peterbro' may fall out now and not get back in. But what do I know?
Sunderland fans are mental. Apart from a 20 minute spell at SOL I thought they were ****. That’s playing out now in games where they are consistently struggling to beat teams near the bottom. Will Grigg is a good signing, although massively overpriced and won’t be match fit for a month. They’ve also got to come fortress Oakwell. I would much rather by us at the moment than them. That Sunderland board is like a brexit forum on acid. Half of them are basically saying they are toilet and rubbish and half think they’ll walk the league because they’re Sunderland and are too big to not turn up and win. Their board yesterday at half time was comical to read.
