Bit worried about this being introduced. When does it close? Are we allowed to sign loan players outside of the transfer window?

Closes August 31st, loan players can still be brought in yes, so we should be okay.

    Closes 31st August until January.

Don't think you can sign anybody outside it unless it's a keeper under special dispensation.

It is going to cause problems for league clubs - especially as so many are on shoe string budgets

Are you sure about the loan players?

I didnt think they were allowed outside the window either but I must admit I havent seen the regulations, and cant be arsed to go hunting for them at the moment, so I could easily be wrong

The transfer window does not have any effect on Loan signings infact I think the regulations for loans have been eased. Although no permanent signings can be made outside the window a player can be signed on loan during "window closure" and then his signing made permanent once the window is open. It is not going to make much difference as far as I can see!

    Loan players are affected

Cant find anyhting official on the FA or Football League sites, You can still download last seasons regs on the football league official site but several reliable sites quote new guidence an example from the Maclesfield rivals site below is typical

    Transfer Window Explained

    By Site Staff
    Date: 8/7/2005

From the 2005/06 season onwards Football League clubs will be subject to FIFA's new registration and transfer rules which include the introduction of transfer windows between the end of the season and August 31 and during the month of January.

The new rules affect both permanent and loan transfers and in order to comply The League has amended its own regulations governing this area. Previous restrictions on the length of loan periods have been altered to allow players of all ages to be loaned from window to window for either a half or full season. Clubswill be allowed to register a maximum of eight such signings, four under 23 and a further four over 23 in any season, with only two of the latter age-group being allowed to come from the same club. Additionally, The League will consider allowing short term emergency loans in exceptional circumstances.

As in previous seasons, no more than five loan players will be allowed to feature in a club's sixteen-man matchday squad.

    RE: Loan players are affected

I stand corrected! The FA rule book makes no differentiation between loan and permanent transfers!
I was sure I had read something to the contrary on the old BBS. Must have been dreaming!!!
