    The jumps are back!

    Finally!

    Just three for me today.

    The Paddy Pie. 1.15 Wetherby.
    Twinjets. 1.30 Ascot
    Red Rookie. 2.05 Ascot

Can't be bothered to type out the whys and hows- because the first race is just about to start.

Looking forward to Bravemansgame making his return to action.

Oh, and make sure you back something that likes soft ground!

Some very slow horses for me today.

    Worse £9 I've ever spent.

Apart from that time I paid that much for a Gin and Tonic the other week at The Three Acres.

It’d be a fancy pomegranate flavoured gin though , not that it should make it more costly

Fantastic riding performances last night from Frankie (inevitably!), Will Buick and Ryan Moore last night. Some of the best Breeders' Cup action I've ever seen. Hope Ryan is in the same form on Tuesday morning.

I didn’t fully appreciate how good Augusts Rodin was… he’s now bagged 2 derbies and a Breeders Cup.
I suppose his 2 blips have tarnished him a bit but what will his rating be now ?

Interesting question. He actually found another couple of lengths on King Of Steel, as compared to Epsom. There again, Onesto finished three lengths closer to him than at Leopardstown. Either way, fortunes to be made with him at stud, being one of the three best progeny of Deep Impact, who Lady Kaht and I saw race at Longchamp.

I couldn’t place Deep Impact to be honest but google shows me his amazing record which included the Japanese Triple and winnings of loads of yen.
    Thanks

Not only that x11, but he turned up in Paris in October 2006 as the best hope Japan had ever had of winning the Arc. Lady Kaht and I were in Paris celebrating our Silver Anniversary. Longchamp was full of Japanese fans who had come to support their superstar. Given that France only has Pari-Mutuel betting, the effect of the Japanese supporters' wagers was phenomenal. Deep Impact went off at a totally unforseen 1/2 favourite! I had backed Raillink at 6/1 ante post, but he went off at around 22/1 on the French Tote due to the weight of money from the Japanese! Still, I was happy enough with my win. As a postscript, Deep Impact was subsequently disqualified from his third place finish due to a failed test for non-permitted substances. His own impact lives on as the sire of an Epsom Derby winner and (as of yesterday) Breeders' Cup Turf winner in Auguste Rodin. Don't you just love the history of the bloodlines, and the stories down the years?

No, France-Galop only announced the positive test for Ipratropium two weeks after the race. If it had been announced on the day I think the Japanese fans might have been thunderously displeased!
