Ipswich played Donny yesterday. Neither of these two made the squad. Are they injured or not good enough?

I think Thomas has been injured, Simoes not good enough.

Meanwhile, over in Austria, it was Ritzmaier vs Schmidt. Ritz on as a sub, Schmidt starting.

Dan Bramall has played 66 minutes in three games without a start. We have a lot of loanees not getting starts.

Not overly concerned with Bramall and Aitchison. They'll be on smaller contracts, and any minutes they play is extra experience for them that they wouldn't get here. But Ritzmaier, Schmidt, Thomas and Simoes are on first team contracts, and I suspect contracts that are not proportionate to the role they can play in our squad. Particularly in the case of Ritz and Thomas. We need them to do enough to earn a move, or a place in our side.

non of them would be getting starts here so it’s no loss. Let them see if they can improve themselves.

Silly question Whitey but how does information and updates about on loan players get back to our club? Does someone at Barnsley regularly contact the loaning club or do they automatically send regular updates back to us? Similarly do you automatically update a club we loan a player from or do they have to contact you?

Both clubs share information, keep in contact at various levels for varying reasons. And of course, different folk at the club are in contact with the players too.

What about midfielder Matty Wolfe on loan at Notts County?

I think I remember reading that he was highly rated by Bobby Hassell.
