To be fair to Lordtyke, the cost of delivering these letters is 0.0001818% of the 330 Billion announced last week to help businesses.
Considering there are close to 4 million people with diabetes yet 1.5 million people will be subject to these restrictions, i'd imagine it will be the small minority with say type 1 that is not well-controlled, as well as the very frail elderly diabetes patients and others with multiple comorbidities. Just my opinion not based on any info I've seen.
Managed to contact all our nearest and dearest today. Thanks to FaceTime. One of the finest electronic formats ever invented.
The letter (or no letter) will tell me if I'm considered to be at risk enough to self isolate. I have to inject an immunosuppressant, but it says in the guidance on gov.uk "People on immunosuppression therapies sufficient to significantly increase risk of infection". I haven't a clue if my drug falls within these parameters.
Personally, I think we’ll all receive a letter by end of the week as the country goes into full lockdown. The only way I see it working is Supermarkets staying open and each household given a slot to go shopping. Oddly enough I was told on Friday that they have so far printed 3.5 million letters (With the more being printed daily)and each one will be in a self sealing letter as opposed to an envelope.
900,000 have been physically printed mate. Don’t know what you mean by self sealing letter but the way it’s done is paper is formed around the original letter and folded by machinery to create an envelope in a process called enclosing.
My mam has type 1 that is under good control and she had a phone call from the hospital telling her to self isolate and has been getting text updates about a food delivery service starting next week. She’s 59. Type 1 diabetes is only 10% of the 4 million figure, the rest are type 2.
She has all sorts that wouldn’t have any impact and also has asthma that would but it was the diabetic nurse that phoned and she just said they are telling type 1’s to self isolate.
Ah ok just my other half's mum is a similar age and type 1 I think so im guessing she will be getting a call or letter.
