    So the government are essentially making it impossible to claim asylum and shipping anyone who tries off to Rwanda instantly.

    The deal with Rwanda is only for 200 people so not sure where the others are going to go. The fact that Cruella Braverman wrote about this in the Scum tells you all you need to know about who this policy is aimed at appeasing

    Exactly this.

    Food for the frothing at the mouth brigade, like that delightful young lady in Rotherham the other week. It is completely unworkable but it will strengthen support in the ranks of far right neo nazis; the number of which unfortunately growing.

    The root of the problem is that due to the governments incompetence they don't have enough people to process all the asylum claims that they're getting. The actual answer is to process the claims in a timely manner, unfortunately that's beyond the competency of the cretins in charge, so their only option is to reject them all.
    I can't say I will shed many tears for the criminal gangs who are making money off the back of others suffering, but unfortunately the genuine asylum seeker will not get a look in. I guess that those coming on the boats are already the privileged who can afford to pay the traffickers.
    At the end of the day its a vote winner, every report of an asylum seeker who rapes a woman/murders someone isn't a great advert for the current "system".

    Didn’t they already pass laws with this aim in 2021 and 2022. What’s different about the 2023 version. In any case they can’t actually implement such laws as it breaches various international conventions we are signed up to

    It’s just throwing the customary red meat to the racists and fascists that now are the majority of the Tory membership
