Who do you think Val will select for tonight? Pretty much picks itself apart from Soll and the forwards. I think he'll rest Woodrow as he played the full 90 the other day. I personally think 2 of Cauley, Morris and Dike should start every game. Collins Sibbick Helik Andersen Brittain Palmer Mowatt Styles Chaplin Dike Morris
Collins Sibbick Helik Andersen Brittain Palmer Mowatt Styles Chaplin Dike Adeboyejo Morris also played 90 on Saturday. I don't agree with "2 of Cauley, Morris and Dike should start every game" because that generally means only 1 of them finishes the game (I know he bucked the trend on Saturday, but as a general rule), so what difference does it make?
The team we started with at the weekend is our strongest 11 and what I would start with again tonight. After the results went against us last night we can't afford to rest guys that would weaken us.
Collins Sibbick Helik Andersen Brittain Halme Mowatt Styles Chaplin Dike Frieser Think Palmer will be rested, with Halme brought in to bring extra height in the midfield. Chaplin didn't feature and Frieser only came on in injury time on Saturday. Suspect he'll be looking to press them tonight, and he tends to use Chaplin and Frieser when he puts more emphasis on the press.
I think Jordan Williams would be pushing for a start in any other season, big Val might rest one of the wing backs now he’s back fit and playing well
How do people still not understand that it's a squad game and basically doesn't matter at all who starts?
If some of the results last night went in our favour maybe I would have thought differently. However now it's must win to keep up the pace so playing our strongest side should be the way to go.
But the strongest side isn't just the 11 that start. It's who's best to start, based on tactics the coach wants to play, and who'll have more impact for the last 30-35 mins.
I get what you're saying. It definitely doesn't matter as much as it used to, and we're making great use of the 5 subs and quality in our squad. But it does still matter - it's the difference between having your best player playing 60/ 90 mins or 30. If you fall behind by 2 goals before you get chance to bring on Woodrow, Dike and Morris then it's harder for them to make an impact. If our 6 forward options weren't so good we'd say it matters more
This team hasn't really got a 'strongest' 11. It's purely the squad. So unless VI is expecting some specific tactic from QPR that means he is prepared to juggle the shape and our own tactics the initial personnel aren't really important imo.
If our striker options were Lewandowski, Mbappe, Ronaldo, Odejayi, Maceo Rigters and Nile Ranger I might agree with you that it's pivotal that the right three start. As it happens we have 6 forwards that can all do a job and playing 3 over the others isn't going to weaken us to a level where it's unquestionable that the 'right three' start.
