He seems a manager, so far, reluctant to change a starting 11 and reluctant to bring on subs. Not a great quality.
They were terrible changes. Not initially been overly impressed with his ability to change tactics or personnel fluidly with the game situations.
Give over. OK he was late with the subs but the defensive one was enforced and alright Jacob should have been off sooner because he was well off it tonight., but at least he put a forward on. It’s not as if he is overrun with better replacements is it! And to say you think a coach who takes over a struggling team is ou of his depth after Bess than a handful of games with no option to bring in players quite frankly beggars belief IMHO.
Seen absolutely nothing to suggest he knows how to manage a game. Too slow to bring on the wrong subs. Sibbick at left back? Seriously? I'm surprised if the poor lad will be able sit down for a week after being torn a new one for half an hour. Schmidt stood looking longingly at the pitch while Struber just let's the game pass him by. **** sake
Early signs aren't promising with one win in five, sticking with the same horrible defenders, throwing away leads and conceding our obligatory last twenty minutes goal.
From the official site "A versatile left-sided player, **** can operate comfortably both at left-back and on the left-wing." "Able to operate comfortably both in central defence and on the right-hand side of defence" Both of those players were sat on our bench. One came on at left back. Which one? The wrong one
Fair Enough the defensive one was enforced but why aren’t we fetching the actual left back we had on the bench on? Or moving Jordan Williams who seems more comfortable than Sibbick at full back to left back and just stick Sibbick at right back where he’s had a few games already? We fetched Jacob Brown off who was most effective for us when he drifted out onto the wing (why not fetch a winger on in his place or move Woodrow further forward and put Thomas behind the strikers) for a lad who has been largely anonymous so far in his career with us. The changes he made tonight didn’t work, Reading took a defender off for a striker and within minutes they’d equalised. Why didn’t we get someone in closer to Charlie Adam? He’s about 46 and they’re giving him enough room to spray passes about and have shots from the edge of the box.
Remember he took over managing a side that had finished 3rd in the previous season. He’s never built his own team. He’s totally out of his depth.
Struber's the manager and will.be when we' re in league 1. I hope he's planning how he ll cope without Woodrow and Mowatt as his chances of getting championship experienced players are slim to none. He's walked right into the trap by saying the squad's too big imo.
So we have a team who are rubbish under a manager who got some of them promoted last season. We’re rubbish under a caretaker manager and are still rubbish under a new manager. I’m not so sure the manager is the problem No idea how you can say he is totally out of his depth at this stage
Thomas on for Woodrow for the last 20 minutes would have been my choice. The annoying thing for me is how long it takes to get the sub on once he's decided who's coming on. There was a good 5 or 6 minutes of Schmidt getting changed, having his pep talk, being shown his tactical pages, etc. Surely a bloody striker knows what's expected of him before he gets the nod?!
Like Thomas was the obvious sub tonight for me. Someone who will run at tired defenders. Had a lovely little cameo v Hull and been ignored since. Baffled....
Schmidt stood waiting We took a corner. Cleared Took another. Went behind for a third corner Struber: oh **** sorry mate I forgot you. On you go. Wtf changed to suddenly bring him on after making him sit out 2 identical corners?
