Last night I had the USA game on on my ipad and watched the last few minutes whilst listening to the post match England comments on the TV. Before the game finished I got an alert that USA were through Just had a look at the delays for the Australia game On iplayer there is a delay of 55 seconds between my ipad and the TV showing the HD BBC2 from a transmitter On the BBC sport app its around 90 seconds - no idea why such a difference especially as there is still a few seconds delay from live on the TV
There is a small delay on HD TV channels compared to SD channels as well and a delay on SD as compared to the old analogue TV. When digital TV broadcasts first started, I tried to watch the cricket with the radio 4 LW TMS commentary (as I had done with the old analogue TV) but the DTV was so far behind the radio that it wasn't watchable. Unfortunately streaming is even slower, the receiving system has to download and buffer a few minutes to avoid the screen from occasionally freezing. Real-time seems to be a thing of the past.... Unless you're actually there of course
Thought this thread was going to be about how Chinese TV has a delay to blur out crowds as you can't show groups of people without masks having a good time, when you're trying to make everyone wear a mask.
I switched from HD to Ultra HD during the England match. You do it by pressing the red button and signing into Iplayer. It was so far behind however that on the HD stream England had just gone 1-0 up, on the UHD one, Paul Gascoigne had just knocked the ball over Colin Hendry's head.
