He was doing o.k but seems to have gone off the boil. I liked the little bit I saw of him and think he'd have done well here with a proper run.
Wasn't he doing well and scoring some impressive goals until Heckingbottom was appointed? Not heard much about him at all of late sadly. Seemed a decent player but we signed him with a million other number 10s.... when we weren't even playing in a suitable system. Best of luck to him.
I don’t think he’s much use in open play. Seems to be a bit of a set piece expert I remember when Hecky was in charge Hibs fans were saying why does he keep playing Mallan which was the exact opposite of what fans of ours were saying when he wasn’t playing for us.
I thought he was too lightweight for the championship. Bags of ability, but little execution. It didn't help that we played with 1 attacking midfield player and we signed about 16 that summer. It was crazy how many number 10s we had at that time. Off the top of my head I recall we had Mallan, Moncur, Lee and Knasmullner. I recall Hammill playing there a couple of times, and probably Hedges and Barnes too. Mallan did only play 8 times, so maybe an extended run of games would have done him good. The same could be said for Knasmullner of course, who only played 3 times, and seems to have kicked on since leaving us. For context, George Moncur made 34 apps that season, and I can recall maybe 2 of them.
