Am I right in thinking CD Becketts deal runs out at the end of this season.? Was anything mentioned at the meeting the other night?
I’m surprised they said that Puma had been renewed last year for another 2 years. I’m happy with Puma, but thought they would have at least announced it at the time.
You can't blame them for a lack of announcement.... as it was extended before they bought the club. if you read Gallys notes it says it was extended 2 years ago.
I wasn’t blaming anyone - just surprised it wasn’t announced at the time as these things usually are.
If we go up, for me, this is the first show of how things may have changed. It seems one of the most obvious avenues of significantly increasing commercial revenue, to shift from a small local company, to one that's more national, or even international. Having said that, it might not be ideal timing for anything lucrative with many economies slowing down or facing recession and plenty of business uncertainty.
Just done a quick search. April 2015 article, states we signed a four year deal with Puma commencing 2015/16 season.
I agree with the general gist of this, but, CKB are a national company and are one of the best in their respective market. It’s just a very bespoke industry they are in.
That’s the original one isn’t it then. Which runs out. I’ve never seen a second announcement with a 2 year extension. No big deal like, just surprised.
And if extended 2 years ago, it must've been for one extra year and likely during the reign of the hapless CEO who replaced Mansford. So no real surprise there was no communication at that point.
Indeed. A very niche industry that has minimal scope to generate business and awareness outside of its existing scope. As such, I suspect its pretty nominal compared to a proper sponsorship deal. We suffered a lot of fill it cheap, pile it high under the poor commercial guy and Mansford who got us in some lengthy poor quality poor service deals.
NewCity Capital stand and Chien to get around FFP can charge whatever the heck he wants for the privilege, much like how Man City have Etihad all over the place with record deals.
