    I regularly do 15-16k steps per day, that's about 7km I think. So that's a brilliant effort mate :)

I did 16,900 on that walk yesterday. Sarah did about a thousand more, but she has much shorter legs than me

Got to do 3 times that in a months time though. My groin was stiff when I got back yesterday, and as soon as the football went on, I struggled to get myself off the sofa for the rest of the day.

Evening all. Quick update - we're all set to do the walk this Saturday.

We'll be aiming to set off for 7:00am as we think, with a break, it'll take us about 8 hours to complete. That will get me home just in time for kick-off.

Thank you all again for your support, we both really appreciate it. Of our initial target of £100 each, we've managed to raise £674 in total so far, with a couple more donations promised after we've completed the walk. The generosity of people during this difficult time has blown us both away.

If anyone else would like to donate, here's the link. We're doing it for a cause close to our hearts, both from personal and professional experience:

    https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/archigan

I've attached our practice walks too, which as you can see, have progressively gotten longer. We've still to muster the energy for an extra 8 miles on top of what we've done previously though, so keep your fingers crossed for us

    Thanks again everyone!

The first one was tough. It was the furthest we've both walked in quite a while, and we noticed we needed to get in shape a bit before the real walk.

After a week of watching what we eat a little more, a series of shorter walks, and better hydration, we had a comfortable walk on this occasion. It made us realise that we probably are up to the task.

My hip was in agony after this one. We learnt the lesson to stick to designated foot paths. I reckon we did an extra Km just by going in the wrong direction. [IMG]

My partner Anne is doing the 10,000 steps a day in March for cancer research. She's done it every day so far.

I'm doing 10 miles a day on my bike this year so far not for charity or anything, just for the enjoyment. Donations to my beer fund gratefully accepted :D:D:D

    828 miles at 10.78 miles a day.

Anne's been trying to do 10,000 steps a day for several years, she walked 1900 miles last year, I regularly exceed 2,500 miles a year cycling so it's business as usual.

Good luck Bud. Make sure you’re back in time for the Wednesday game. Don’t forget noon kick off.

As a regular 20 mile + walker, can I offer a tip, just in case you haven't had it already (I'm sure you have). Change your socks. Blisters and chafing on the feet are caused by repetition, and you can mitigate this by slightly changing the environment in your shoes. On big walks, I change my socks every 8-10 miles - I also do preventative taping too but that's a bit of effort - it's the single thing I wish someone had told me in my first few efforts at walking long distances.

    Good luck!

I've been trying to track how much I walk daily (although I often forget to wear my smart watch). As some days, I reckon I do well over 10,000 steps, just due to the nature of my job. Sarah tries to go for a walk before and after work, and sometimes on her lunch, as she's sat at a desk in our spare bedroom all day. We do try and make up for it at the weekend where possible though.

Good to know! I've been wearing quite thick socks on our walks and not had much trouble. The first practice one we did though, I had quite thin socks on, and the soles of my feet were very sore when we got back.

I'll pop a spare pair in the bag for the walk back home

I used to work at British Car Auction, cycled 6 miles each way and like you was on my feet all day, no idea how far I walked but I probably did 10,000 steps as well.

Just to let everyone know, the walk went well on Saturday. Including about a 45 minute break for lunch, and a couple of stops to take pictures, tie laces etc, it took us 7h 40mins to do the 40km.

Thank you again to everyone who has supported us, and donated over £900 in total. We're absolutely blown away. Thank you so much, you've supported a great cause!

What has come as a blessing in disguise, is that I've got a hospital appointment on Wednesday now, and as part of that, I needed to do a covid test today and isolate until my appointment. So I've a few days off work to recover [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

I was wondering how you'd gone on. Lovely photos and well done on raising so much money. Enjoy a well earned test now!
