Hey are you Hacksaw Helen Duggan ? lol. Jim Duggan was a former Wwf wrestler who used to ask fans to do the USA, USA chant.
One thing I forgot to add. The Italian lad was gracious in defeat. Applauding callum at the announcement of the result. Fair play to the lad as he's been nothing but complimentary since he came over. And tbf to Jeffers I expected very little less. If you can't big yourself up. Who will. On tonight's performances though. He's below callums standard imo.
Country Roads, Sweet Caroline, Hey Jude are all fantastic singalong songs and crowd pleasers and long may they continue playing them.
Yeah and things like that go a long way, don't they Hook. Simple things like showing respect, decency, and being gracious, even in defeat etc. And even more so, they don't even cost a thing!.
The thought of it is bad enough mate. Thankfully I know he’s a red. Im sure those at the club are as eager to be associated with him as he is them - they’d be daft not to.
Yeah exactly, that's kind of what I was suggesting. Couldn't one 'team' gain momentum and confidence etc from the other, and vice versa. And I really think a sporting Champion like Callum, having fights at the stadium of his hometown footy team, is a brilliant idea.
I get that, We need timerider in there for me. At some stage of the entrance. Just an opinion I'm guessing there is some reason Callum doesn't think so. And who am I to argue with him lol. All those you mention are crowdpleasers to sing along to. but they are synonymous with other clubs.
It'll not be down to him mate id have thought . His promotors will have the biggest say. But we certainly haven't done any harm for em to consider a return.
They die a death though. They could have played pretty much anything tonight and it would have flown. Country Roads at the football games is absolute drivel. It’s crap. Never works. Hey Jude - I mean ok. But it’s used by loads of others. And I think back fondly to the days when you could go to a sport event - any sport - and they didn’t feel it compulsory to play sweet chuffing caroline. In the last four years I’ve been to of course dozens of football games, international and domestic cricket, Rugby Union matches, F1 at Silverstone three times, darts, and even, randomly, a county level diving gala. Every single one of them churned it out. Well, maybe a few of the more mundane league games at Barnsley they didn’t, but I reckon most. It’s like it has become compulsory - probably because it has a crowd participation bit in the chorus. We might as well chuck on Agadoo
After seeing him interviewed on Sky Sports News yesterday I was really hoping he’d lose, and was chuffed when he did. Just like with the Zak Chelli fight, Sky muted the crowd during Jeffers’ ring walk. Or run, as it turns out. Couldn’t get past us quick enough. It was great fun during his trudge back to the dressing room. He was gonna take Simpson’s belts, apparently. I suspect he won’t, unless he does a bit of burglary on the side.
Thought it was a good night for the town and callum busy in town before and a great finish from callum although he'll probably be abit pissed off with the 2 knockdowns but he won every round barring those. I was abit disappointed adam azim fight got pulled as for the casual boxing fan the undercard wasn't stacked. I was looking forward to watching jeffers after all his talk of the best super middleweight in the country he failed to live upto his own hype and it would now be silly for callum to take that fight.
He needs to stay active & if he’s the ‘home’ fighter then it’s going to be Sheffield or Leeds arena in all likelihood.
I don't begrudge Jeffers trying to put himself into the frame to fight Callum. He's got a great record, and as Callum is being fast tracked through the ranks because of his popularity, naturally, he'd want to be in the same conversations. What struck me though is how much he looked past Hemphill before the fight last night. Sky have been baiting Callum all week with dream fights, and in every interview, he's reminded them that he's got a job to do on Saturday first. Jeffers was too busy focusing on Callum that I think he underestimated Hemphill. I'd watched some highlights of a few of silky's past fights and he looked no mug. A lot of the betting experts were talking about an upset being on the cards last night, they just looked at the wrong fight.
