Not a chance he's going to this time next year for his next fight. He needs to stay busy and make his money whilst he's around his prime years. He doesn't sound in a rush to move to world level, which is good news after last night. Time for him to clean up the European division for a couple of years.
Just read the BBC report on the fight, they say there was 23,000 inside Oakwell. Would anyone who went agree with this? Seems a lot to me
£7.00 for Burton on Trent faux Spanish lager !!! Last year I thought they’d bumped the price up just for the boxing but no they kept the prices, now this they are so out of touch with the fan base it’s unreal.
We were sat in ponty and it didn’t feel particularly busy and we could probably have gotten away with not opening the away end, great atmosphere and result in the end.
That's utter b0110x. 12-13k much nearer. Don't forget 15k would have been a sell out. Both ends were sparse if I said 1k in each I'd think I'd be more than generous. West stand not used. So you were looking at ES. 7.5 kMax. Pitch hard to say but if 2-3k gives you circa the figure I estimate. Still a great turnout and atmosphere though. A world title fight would smash that figure.
Unable to tell from where I was jud middle of East Upper but it certainly appeared full as far as I could see. Lower no idea.
I guess that works too but I think they’d sell a lot more tickets at Leeds or Sheffield when you can jump on one train & you’re there
I'm assuming you watched on tv. Was that during the Simpson fight. ?. B4 that, loads of spaces. Even during the Jeffers fight.
What a special night. I’d seen pictures but it was incredible to walk through the turnstiles & see the stadium looking like that. As a boxing fan it’s a dream to have a local lad headlining at Oakwell. I never even thought anything like that could happen. What a fight as well. When I watched Zucco’s highlights that left hand was his danger shot & I’m sure Simpson’s trainer will have warned him about that shot for 10 weeks & then he goes down off of one in 8 seconds. Unbelievable. It doesn’t bear thinking about if he hadn’t got up & was beaten inside 20 seconds! But the good thing is he wasn’t really hurt off either knockdown. I’m just so glad for him that he won. I don’t know how he deals with the pressure of it. I think I’d be a mess.
On Jeffers, I really don’t think he’s a bad lad & he’s been pretty respectful of Simpson until this week. He was on the Sky Boxing podcast a couple of weeks back & the pundit Barry Jones was telling him he needs to make everybody talk about a Simpson-Jeffers fight by calling him out repeatedly & even getting in the ring after the main event. I think he turned up this week to play the heel & didn’t act his normal self. He went out last night to get an early stoppage & I’ve no doubt he would have called Simpson out & hung around ringside for the main event. On the plus side it will be nice for Callum to not have a load of Jeffers trolls commenting on every post calling him a ducker.
