Had a look on owlstalk last night. It’s a bit of a weird situation. 11 weeks since Pulis resigned and from what I can gather zero communication from the club about a new manager. It’s not even clear if they’re trying to recruit or not. Still no accounts published, must be quite alarming for their fans - can see them in league 2 in a few seasons time.
I think they’ll still survive. Neither Rotherham or Wycombe can put a run together so they only need another club to be sucked into the scrap. They will fluke enough wins and draws to survive (just)
They're not scoring goals though. Best they can hope for is 1 0. Rotherham know how to scrap, they'll finish higher I'm sure.
From what I've seen, Rotherham look a much better bet for survival than the Massives. The only thing Rotherham a missing is a bit of luck...
I wouldn't like them to fold. The last thing we need are millions of grown men wandering the streets every Saturday, weeping and wailing.
If you read about what type of manager they want they mainly say they require an experienced British manager. Like Pulis then.
Rotherham have a much more youthful hungry squad. They’ve not played too bad this season, so I expect a run may come towards the end of the season. Wednesday however don’t appear to want it. They’re jogging about like it’s a training game and look disinterested. Wednesday are very much in the midst of it for me.
Rotherham look poor. As do the massives, Wycombe and Birmingham. I don’t particularly like Rotherham but I hope it’s finally the year that both Wednesday and Birmingham go down. Two clubs that seem to constantly live beyond their means but never actually have any success with it.
I don’t want them to fold, but seeing them sit at the bottom of league 2 would be nice for a few seasons...
This. The relegation of Wednesday, Birmingham and Wayne Rooney's Derby (TM) would be perfect metaphor for how to run a club but I still expect all three to survive. I'm expecting Wycombe/Rovrum and Cov to get relegated.
You could add Derby to the list, but at least they've had some form of success in recent years (play-offs under Lampard). Birmingham seem to spend big money and still constantly finish in the bottom half of the league.
Withholding the accounts for so long is not a good sign. They know they're due another points deduction, I guess they're trying to judge whether to take the hit this season or next. I
It is such a shame what has been allowed to happen to that club. Is something I’d say if I was a liar.
It’s the same old football fan, lack of imagination... They need a manager who understands the league. A team of championship experienced players and a proven goal scorer at this level or above. And the owner simply has to put his hand in his pocket to fund all of that. Despite the fact that above them in the table are a dozen clubs with foreign managers, inexperienced and/or cheaper players and a few with owners who aren’t spending millions to do it.
