Sam matterface must have secrets on the execs at itv. It’s all I can think of. He is absolutely rank awful as a commentator. I’m no Clive Tyldesley fan but he is streets ahead of Matterface. I’ve no idea other than blackmail how he’s got the gig he has. It beggars belief.
Matterface is absolutely horrific. I can’t remember close to even half of the stupid comments he made, but part of me thinks he must do it on purpose and the bigwig bosses think it’s ‘part of his charm’. He said something like ‘Denmark are down to ten members of personnel’ but it was worse than that. Told kids they didn’t have to go to bed. talked about 30 minutes to change their lives. Or not. And rambled on about something to do with not going to work the next day. I think on this one millions more have also seen the TV adverts for Sky with the Tyler Aguero roar. That goal and the Tyler clip has been played over and over for close to a decade now.
For me, matter is that yellow/black/green/white pus and gunge what comes out when you squeeze spots, blackheads and boils on your back, neck and face. To be called Matterface is either an accurate description of someone's head or an insult of epic proportions.
It was "Denmark are down to 10 staff, or is that 9, a player's gone off..." This was 10 minutes after it happened as he didn't notice. Then it was this... "I tell you what if this comes off, you can do what you want tonight, you had a terrible 16 months, kids you can stay up, don't dare go to bed. "The rest of you call your boss, you ain't coming in in the morning. You deserve this, England deserve this. Feel it, ride it, all of that outpouring of pent up emotion is just 50 seconds away. "Just try and be safe and follow the rules, otherwise I'm going to be in one hell of a load of trouble." I'm not comfortable with slating someone doing their job but his public school, self indulgent crap instead of filling the viewer in has been embarrassing all tournament and then last night downright irresponsible.
Exactly where I'm at. I'd hopefully never completely lambast someone for their profession, although you can in the heat of an emotional moment sometimes on something like sport or entertainment, but last night his comments were bordering on the bizarre, weird, and irresponsible.
Literally just put it on mute, don’t listen. Even with the reds for me I put it on at 3:01 and have it on mute.
That's the sentiment I was aiming for, with such a public job the effects of the critical response could be hard to take. However he is truly awful
You’d think so. But I thought that the night of the EU referendum. I often forget how many thick ***** we live amongst.
It was traditionally somewhere between a 5:1 and 4:1 ratio in favour of the BBC on football head-to-heads. Gap's narrowed a little in recent years, but I suspect Wednesday night's "commentary" might have sent a few more back the BBC's way.
