Was on the pitch pre match Saturday (in a suit not training gear or straight jacket as has been previously suggested). Proof that he isn't dead Sent from my phone using my hands
He's at every game. Sits in west stand lower near tunnel along with other injured/not featuring players
Yeah I saw him seated in the stands with others. I'm still hopeful for him in the future, there's not many others though it seems.
Think most people actually have the respect and decency to understand he's been seriously injured, and will support and welcome him back when he's fully fit. A few noisy, ignorant, moronic trolls on a small message board do not represent the majority. Hope Ryan comes back firing. Will be a huge asset to us in a fairly small squad if he can come back and play like his potential suggested he could.
Whilst I agree, I can't help but think that we've seen the last of him on the field. Say he gets back into training in January, he's then to get up to fitness. He'll be lacking in any sort of match practice and therefore will struggle to make any sort of impression on the team. Barring injuries to other players I think he'll find it difficult to break into the first team and I imagine he's out of contract in the summer. Shame really. Was a very promising signing at the time. Sent from my phone using my hands
Someone pass me a violin. What have you seen from him (almost two years ago) to make you think he will be a huge asset?
I'd love it if he could get fit, play and show us what a good player he is but I would be amazed if we ever see him play for us again. His contract is up in the summer and I think the chances of him getting a new deal are about 0%.
Hecky said on Player that Williams is training with the under 23`s at the minute but being monitored and not being pushed too hard to look for reactions. If he gets fit enough there then will be included in the first team training until hopefully able to be available for selection. They are handling with kid gloves.
I very much doubt he will make another first team appearance for us, isn't he also out of contract at the end of the season?
He had about two decent games in November 2014. In League One. We've hardly missed him. I remember his debut against Bradford - reminded me of a Springer chasing a tennis ball.
To be honest I never really rated him. He gave away the ball a hell of a lot & his decision making was pretty poor. Personally think he was lucky to come into the team at pretty much the only stage of that season we had a fully fit squad. It's kind of become a myth that his injury was the reason results went downhill but we lost Cranie, Bree, Ramage & Winnall around the same time, all to lengthy injuries. Still wish him all the best, must be terrible having a long term injury
Though it hasn't been ideal as I thought he was a very good signing at the time, a positive to come out of this is that Barnsley as a club will treat you in the right manner whatever your individual circumstances. If you come the big I am you're out, if you need treatment and patience you'll get it. Along with the youth development, the work ethic and the positive attitude this can only further our decent reputation in the game. These qualities should then be factors in attracting other hungry young players here in the future and I include premier league loans in that
