I read his book recently and, until then, never realised he was a youth at Forest. One of his stories from his days back then was how the players were all contractually obliged to wear Adidas boots when playing in Europe, but most of them hated them as they were uncomfortable. Young Redders' job was to take the Puma, Patrick etc boots of the senior players and put black paint over the logo, wait for it to dry, then paint three white stripes on them so they looked like Adidas for the TV cameras.
